Both of these options fall short of the Silverado EV and its standard battery that lets its pair of motors deliver 645 hp; Chevy’s larger battery pushes things even further to 760 hp, which puts the F-150 Lightning to shame.
This is about much more than just horsepower bragging rights, as the 2025 Silverado EV gives you a far superior range of up to 460 miles from a full charge, while the F-150 Lightning tops out at an estimated 320 miles of range. Similarly, Chevy’s truck can handle up to 12,500 lbs of towing, which surpasses the 10,000 lbs of maximum towing possible from Ford’s EV pickup. Performance

The Ford F-150 Lightning’s standard battery setup offers 452 hp and 775 lb-ft of torque; the upgraded battery setup pushes performance up to 580 hp, which seems quite impressive. In terms of capabilities, the standard battery can only handle 7,700 lbs of towing, while the upgrade boosts that to 10,000 lbs of towing and 1,800 lbs of payload. Although those numbers look good at first glance, Chevy immediately makes it clear that its engineers are ready to deliver more. With its standard battery, the 2025 Silverado EV’s pair of motors delivers 645 hp and up to 785 lb-ft of torque, far surpassing the horsepower of anything Ford offers for the F-150 Lightning.
Taking things to another level, the 2025 Silverado EV’s available Max Range battery boosts power output to an incredible 760 hp, providing you with a driving experience that few other vehicles on the road can keep up with. The icing on this all-electric cake is that the Silverado EV can handle up to 12,500 lbs of towing and 1,800 lbs of payload. That is far more towing potential than Ford has delivered, letting you tackle more tasks with the Silverado EV.
Electric Range
Although we are pretty far into the modern era of new electric vehicles that deliver much greater ranges than what we saw a decade ago, range anxiety is still a thing for many people. EVs can present an unknown driving experience, and since charging stations are still catching up with gas stations in terms of the number of them out there, it’s fair that some people worry about how far they can go in an electric truck. Both Chevy and Ford understand this and have worked hard to develop battery and motor systems that deliver impressive range, especially when you are talking about a full-size truck.
That being said, the Silverado EV utilizes GM’s remarkable Ultium battery platform, which Ford has not been able to match in terms of range and capabilities. As you might expect, the range of both of these trucks depends on which battery you choose, so it is important to keep this in mind and not look at only the amount of horsepower they provide. The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning with its standard battery gets an estimated 240 miles of range from a full charge, which is fine but not exactly remarkable. Its upgraded battery greatly improves the F-150 Lightning’s range to an estimated 320 miles, but while this is much better, it is still not as impressive as it could be.
The 2025 Chevy Silverado EV gets an estimated 408 miles of range from a full charge and its standard Extended Range battery. That’s already better than Ford’s best offer, but if you go with the available Max Range battery, you not only get incredible performance but also an estimated 460 miles of range. This far surpasses what Ford has managed with the F-150 Lightning, letting you get a lot more done each day.
Tech Features
Although we have already seen plenty of impressive technology in how the Silverado EV is engineered, there is much more available from Chevy. Ford is no slouch when it comes to great technology, however, so the F-150 Lightning has plenty to offer in that regard, too. That being said, Chevy has been pushing the envelope lately when it comes to technology, and the 2025 Silverado EV is certainly no exception, which is no surprise. The F-150 Lightning has a lot available, but some of its tech features are surprisingly lacking.
The base 2025 F-150 Lightning XLT comes with a 12-inch Digital Instrument Cluster, along with a 12-inch infotainment display. That is not bad, but it is also not exceptional when looking at what’s out there. An eight-way power driver’s seat is standard, along with dual-zone automatic temperature control and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Looking at higher trims, tech features become a bit more impressive. The top-end Platinum trim has a larger 15.5-inch infotainment screen, a wireless charging pad, and a B&O sound system that sounds quite good.
Chevy takes tech features to the next level with the 2025 Silverado EV, however, as its standard features include a massive 17.7-inch LCD infotainment display with Google Built-In, which is far larger than anything Ford offers in their truck. Other standard features include a seven-speaker Bose Premium sound system, heated and ventilated front seats, 12-way power front seating, an 11-inch Driver Information Center display, and a wireless charging pad.
