Connectivity
There are a lot of different things to keep track of when you are shopping for a vehicle, which makes it easy to overlook some important items. In particular, we cannot stress the importance of the features you get inside your SUV. Impressive tech features and comfortable seating can seem like an added luxury, but they really matter. Inside the base 2025 Trax LS, we find an eight-inch touchscreen with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This is joined by a small Driver Information Center screen, along with comfortable cloth seating, a six-way driver’s seat, and Remote Keyless Entry that makes it easier to get in and out of your vehicle. If you go with the impressive 2RS trim, then you get a number of enhanced features, including an 11-inch infotainment display, an eight-inch Driver Information Center, and Keyless Open and Start. The 2RS also features comfortable Evotex seating with an eight-way power driver’s seat, plus options like an available power sunroof and wireless charging pad.
Looking at the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross, we find a number of similar standard features like an eight-inch touchscreen with a small Multi-Information Display for the driver. Fabric-trimmed seating is standard with a six-way driver’s seat, much like what you get with the standard Chevy Trax. Looking at higher trims, like the XLE, there are a number of nice upgrades, like a power-adjustable driver’s seat and ambient interior lighting. Where Toyota falls short, however, is in some of the tech features: the eight-inch infotainment display is all you can get with this SUV, and the upgraded driver screen in the XLE trim is only seven inches—a smaller screen than what you get in the Trax 2RS.
Driver Assistance
No matter what else you are looking for in a vehicle, nothing matters if your SUV cannot help keep you and your loved ones safe on the road. Modern safety tech goes far beyond what we enjoyed a few decades ago; the only downside to that, however, is that these kinds of tech features can still be reserved as available options rather than standard features. Fortunately, both the Chevy Trax and Toyota Corolla Cross come with an impressive selection of safety tech designed to protect drivers. While it is important to consider vital differences between these two SUVs, there is nothing wrong with celebrating what they both do well; plus, Chevy gives you some features that Toyota does not.
Looking at the starting Trax LS, you get the Chevy Safety Assist suite standard, which includes numerous advanced tools such as a Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, and IntelliBeam auto high beams that will switch off to avoid blinding oncoming traffic. You also get Chevy’s Teen Driver tool, which encourages safe habits by activating certain systems when a designated key fob (for your teen) is in use. If you want to take safety further, then you also have a number of available features like Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and more.
The 2025 Corolla Cross comes with Toyota Safety Sense, which helps ensure it is also an incredibly safe option on the road. This standard suite includes many things similar to what Chevy provides, such as a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Automatic High Beams, and a Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. Much like the Trax, more options are available from Toyota, like a Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, which is great. Toyota does not have a Teen Driver tool, however, so keep that in mind if you have a new driver at home or a teen who will start driving soon. While we love how much Toyota provides to keep their drivers safe, we still prefer the Chevy Safety Assist suite and everything else included with the Trax.
Overall Value

So Chevy gives you more for your money to start with, and your budget can stretch much further with the Trax than with what Toyota offers.
The Chevy Trax Has What You Need
As you can see, even though the Toyota Corolla Cross is a fine subcompact SUV, the 2025 Chevy Trax simply gives you more to enjoy for your money. You get similar features inside when looking at starting models, even though Toyota’s subcompact SUV starts at a much higher price. And as you start moving up the trim levels, you can get great features with the Trax that Toyota does not offer—such as larger interior displays and the Teen Driver tool—while still spending less money on your next ride.
