2026 Chevy Equinox vs 2026 Nissan Rogue
If you want an SUV that delivers impressive functionality while sticking to a smaller size that fits into any lifestyle, then a compact model is a great choice. That said, you have a wide range of options when looking for a compact SUV you will love driving every day.
We find it helps to focus on one or two models at a time to see what they offer and how they stack up to each other. Comparing the 2026 Chevy Equinox vs 2026 Nissan Rogue, for example, makes it clear that while Nissan has a lot to offer with the Rogue, Chevy simply gives you more to create a stunning ride with the Equinox.
For one thing, the trim levels of these two models are noticeably different, particularly because Nissan has gone overboard with what it offers. When looking at the 2026 Rogue, we see five trims with blurred lines between them, making it hard to tell what each offers that sets it apart from the others.
Chevy keeps things much more streamlined and straightforward with the 2026 Equinox, offering three unique trim levels to choose from. What’s more, the Equinox’s trims have their own personality and design, so it is easy to consider each one and choose the one that best meets your needs.
Beyond these differences, we also find the 2026 Equinox’s standard features more appealing than Nissan’s for the 2026 Rogue. For one thing, you get an 11.3-inch infotainment display as standard inside every Chevy Equinox, even if you go with the starting LT trim.
The Nissan Rogue, on the other hand, starts with a smaller eight-inch screen; while a larger display is available for the 2026 Rogue, you have to go to a higher trim, which means spending more and potentially getting other features you might not care about. Add over 15 standard safety features in the 2026 Equinox, and you get a vehicle that helps you safely get where you need to go each day.

Safety Technology
Few things are more important than how well a vehicle can protect you and help keep you safe on the road. Nothing can replace safe, careful driving on your part, sure, but the right features can enhance your abilities and make it easier to avoid a collision or other unexpected situations.
Both of these models come with a number of great safety features standard, which we love to see. Still, we find the way that Chevy has brought everything together in the 2026 Equinox gives it an edge—especially when you consider available upgrades.
Looking at the Equinox LT and its starting features, we find more than 15 safety systems designed to protect you on the road. You get a Forward Collision Alert with Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking that works at any speed above 2 mph, plus Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking for assistance when traffic is often the most hectic.
Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking is standard, along with Reverse Automatic Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, and Blind Zone Steering Assist to help keep you from merging into someone you cannot see. Lane Keep Assist with a Lane Departure Warning, a Side Bicyclist Alert, and much more are all standard on every Equinox trim.
The Nissan Rogue has a lot of fine safety features, but it simply cannot keep up with what Chevy gives you. For example, Predictive Brake Assist is standard on the 2026 Rogue, along with a Blind Spot Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and a Driver Attention Alert.
Features like Active Lane Keep Assist, which helps keep you from drifting from your lane, and a 360-degree Surround View Camera are not available for the base Rogue S—not a mere “extra option,” but rather “completely unavailable.” With the 2026 Equinox, if you want enhanced features like the HD Surround Vision system, you can add it to the starting trim, giving you more options to keep you safe.
Trim Levels & Options
There are plenty of things that are easy to look at and compare at a glance when considering an impressive compact SUV like the Chevy Equinox. Other details can be harder to fully appreciate and more likely to go unnoticed, since there are so many features to keep track of when shopping for a vehicle.
Trim levels, for example, are easy to take for granted when you have so many other things to look at, but that is a mistake. The trims available make a huge difference in what you get when shopping for an SUV. While Chevy makes it easy to get everything you are looking for in the 2026 Equinox, Nissan has created for the 2026 Rogue a lineup we find convoluted and overwhelming.
Nissan starts off well enough with a standard S trim that sets the stage for what is to come and offers solid standard features. From there, however, things quickly become a mess. The next step up is the SV trim, which has a name that doesn’t really tell you where it fits in the lineup.
After that, a Rock Creek trim does a better job of having an expressive name, since it is designed for drivers who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. The Dark Armor trim has a name that we feel is trying too hard, although the high-end Platinum trim does a better job of telling its story. Ultimately, with five different trims to keep track of, things are just more complicated than they need to be for a compact SUV like this.
Looking at the 2026 Equinox, Chevy provides you with everything you need to get the kind of vehicle you want, without going overboard or making things confusing. For starters, you have a base LT trim that offers all the essentials and straightforward options that are suitable for most drivers.
From there, another two trims are available, and they both have the same starting price, so your choice comes down to the style and features you prefer. The ACTIV trim has an outdoor focus, perfect if you like hiking and camping, while the RS has a street-inspired design and great features for your daily drive. So you have three clear options, each with its own identity, making it easy to get what you are looking for without missing a thing.
Standard Features
Although both of these compact SUVs give you different trims to consider and choose from, we often find that standard features tell us a lot about a model. For one thing, these establish the foundation that everything else builds upon.
Also, we know plenty of drivers who are not interested in upgrades or fancy extras, preferring to keep things simple and mainly focus on what comes standard. With that in mind, the Chevy Equinox gives you excellent starting features and options, including some that surpass what Nissan provides on the 2026 Rogue.
Starting with the Rogue, its S trim delivers some fine standard features and a few extra options, but we would like to see more from Nissan. The 2026 Rogue S comes with a seven-inch driver display, an eight-inch infotainment screen, and a four-speaker sound system.
While every trim supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, only the 2026 Rogue’s highest Platinum trim has wireless functionality for those apps, which seems incredibly inconvenient for most drivers. A six-way manual driver’s seat is standard in the Rogue S, but heated front seats for those cold winter mornings are not even available.
Looking at the 2026 Chevy Equinox and its starting LT trim, we find an incredible number of features that are significantly superior to what the Rogue starts with. The first thing you will notice is the pair of screens up front: a gorgeous 11-inch Driver Information Center paired with an impressive 11.3-inch infotainment screen. You also get a six-speaker sound system as standard in the Equinox, so you enjoy larger screens that are easier to use than those in the Rogue, as well as superior audio.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard in every 2026 Equinox, plus you get a six-way driver’s seat and heated front seats in the Equinox LT. The fact that you get all of this at a lower starting price than the Rogue is simply the icing on this cake.

Discover Everything the 2026 Equinox Can Do
At the end of the day, while we are sure there is a lot that Nissan fans like about the Rogue, you can see that Chevy gives you more to enjoy with the 2026 Equinox. Whether you are looking at the standard tech and safety features, available options for upgrades, or the various trim levels and overall lineup design, we find the Equinox to be a superior choice.
