When it comes to trucks, no other name stands out quite like Silverado. This rugged and dependable Chevy pickup truck series provides drivers with unrivaled quality and capability, and these models are also priced to be affordable for most drivers. This is certainly the case with the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500, a new iteration of the brand’s most popular full-size pickup that delivers everything you can ask for, with a level of versatility you won’t find from any other brand.

The key to the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 is the ability to choose one that matches your needs perfectly. This is because Chevy gives you so many different options and choices on each one. In addition to the four different engine options, three different cab sizes, and three payload bed sizes, you get to decide between nine trim levels. This allows you to choose one that will work best for your purposes, while giving you a price point that fits your budget perfectly. With a base MSRP of $36,900, it is easy to find a 2026 Silverado 1500 that won’t break the bank.[a]

Engine Options

Chevy offers drivers four different engine options on the 2026 Silverado 1500. This gives you the ability to choose one that delivers the performance you are looking for out of your full-size truck. Depending on which trim level you choose, you will get one of these four engines standard, with the ability to choose at least one other as a preference.

The most common engine on the Silverado 1500 is the 2.7-liter TurboMax. This four-cylinder gas engine comes equipped with an Active Fuel Management system and is turbocharged to boost performance without impacting fuel economy. Like the other three engines, it has Automatic Stop/Start, which improves fuel efficiency by shutting down the engine when you bring your truck to a full stop and then restarting the engine when you take your foot off the brake pedal. The TurboMax delivers up to 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque, and it comes standard on the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, and LT Trail Boss trims.

You can also opt for a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 gas engine. This comes standard on the LTZ and High Country trims and is available on the Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, and certain versions of the WT. It produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque and has a Dynamic Fuel Management system to improve efficient performance.

One of the most powerful available engines on the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 is a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8. This engine provides an impressive 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. While it does not come standard on any trim, you can choose this as an option on the RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2, and High Country. It is exclusively offered with a four-wheel drivetrain, and it also uses a Dynamic Fuel Management system to improve engine efficiency.

Unlike many other full-size trucks, you can choose a diesel engine on the 2026 Silverado 1500: a 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel. This inline six-cylinder engine is turbocharged to boost performance, and it gives you an impressive 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. It is standard on the ZR2, the trim designed for off-road enthusiasts. You can also choose to equip your Silverado 1500 with the Turbo-Diesel if you get a Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, or High Country trim.

Transmissions

Most engines on the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 come paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. This is an electronically controlled transmission with an overdrive feature. The lone exception is the TurboMax, which uses an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel Economy

While most full-size pickup trucks are not known for fuel efficiency, the 2026 Silverado 1500 does offer options that will at least deliver solid numbers for drivers concerned about burning cash on gas. The best fuel economy for the Silverado 1500 is with the Duramax Turbo-Diesel. If you opt for a rear-wheel drivetrain, you can get 25 MPG combined. This drops slightly to 24 MPG with a four-wheel drivetrain.

The TurboMax is also fairly efficient for a gas engine on a full-size pickup. A rear-wheel-drive model with this engine gets 20 MPG combined. The 5.3-liter EcoTec3 engine will give you 18 MPG combined with a rear-wheel drivetrain. The 6.2-liter EcoTec3 engine is only available with a four-wheel drivetrain, yet it gives you a respectable 17 MPG combined.

Acceleration

Depending on which engine you choose, you can expect good speed and acceleration numbers on a 2026 Silverado 1500. Drivers who choose the 6.2-liter EcoTec3 can get to 60 mph in as little as 5.4 seconds, with a top speed of 112 mph. The 5.3-liter EcoTec3 is also pretty peppy, with the ability to go from zero to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds. If you choose the Duramax Turbo-Diesel, though, you won’t be as quick off the line, as it will take up to 7.1 seconds to get to 60 mph. However, a Silverado 1500 with this diesel engine does have a top speed of 114 mph.

Capabilities

One of the biggest reasons many people choose to drive a truck is for its capabilities. No other type of passenger vehicle offers the towing and hauling capacities of a pickup truck. When it comes to full-size pickups, few models can rival the Chevy Silverado 1500, with its exceptional capabilities and advanced equipment.

Towing

The 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 not only offers you a truck that is built for trailering, but also offers you the advanced technology to make towing a trailer safe and easy. You can get up to 14 different camera views on the Silverado 1500, as well as specialized apps to make it easier to hitch. There is even an available Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert that will allow you to change lanes while taking into account the trailer your truck is towing.

If you want to get the most out of towing, opting for a 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel will allow you to tow up to 13,300 lbs with your 2026 Silverado 1500. Drivers who choose the available 6.2-liter EcoTec3 engine can get a maximum trailering capability of 13,200 lbs. The other two available engines on the Silverado 1500 are also quite capable, with the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 capable of towing up to 11,300 lbs and the 2.7-liter TurboMax able to tow up to 9,500 lbs.

Hauling

Just like towing, when it comes to hauling cargo, the 2026 Chevy Silverado 1500 has you covered. This truck is built to carry cargo, and models with a TurboMax engine are capable of hauling up to 2,260 lbs. The Silverado 1500 with a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 is similarly capable, with a maximum capacity of 2,180 lbs in its bed. If you opt for a Duramax Turbo-Diesel, you can carry up to 1,970 lbs, while the available 6.2-liter EcoTec3 can haul up to 1,980 lbs.

Chevy gives you the ability to also choose how much capacity you need. If you need to carry the most supplies to your worksite, the 8.2-foot-long bed can fit up to 89.1 cu.ft. of cargo. The standard bed on the Silverado 1500 measures 6.6 feet and can carry up to 71.7 cu.ft. of material. Even the short bed, which measures 5.8 feet, provides you with 62.9 cu.ft. of cargo space.

Getting things loaded into your Silverado 1500 is easy if you get the available Multi-Flex tailgate. It has six different functions, including a convenient full-width step that you and the crew are sure to appreciate if you have to get at some heavy cargo. The Multi-Flex tailgate can also be used as a convenient workbench at your job site. If you get the available 120-volt outlet, you can use it to power your tools at this workbench!

Chevy also offers the Durabed on the Silverado 1500, which consists of roll-formed high-strength steel. This will help you carry heavy materials without damaging your box bed. No matter which bed size you choose, you will get twelve standard tie-downs, so you can secure whatever you are carrying in your truck.

Technology

Few brands have built a reputation for technological innovation on their trucks like Chevy. This is especially true of the 2026 Silverado 1500, which has an array of innovative features to keep you and your crew safe, connected, and entertained wherever you go.

Safety

Every 2026 Silverado 1500 comes with the Chevy Safety Assist suite of six advanced driver assistance features. This will help keep you and your passengers safe by alerting you to possible hazards so you can take evasive action to avoid an accident.

If you are getting too close to the vehicle in front of you, the Following Distance Indicator will let you know to give more room for braking distance. If the other vehicle suddenly stops, the Forward Collision Alert will sound so you can take evasive action. This will also engage the Automatic Emergency Braking system, which will either bring you to a safe stop or reduce the impact of a collision, helping to mitigate any damage from an unavoidable accident.

The Front Pedestrian Braking system works in a similar fashion. When you are driving your Silverado 1500 at a slow speed and the system detects a pedestrian crossing in front of your truck, it will alert you while engaging the emergency brakes so you can avoid colliding with the person. One of the most common causes of accidents is distracted driving. The Lane Departure Alert will warn you when you merge into a lane without signaling. At the same time, Lane Keep Assist will use slight steering and braking to get you safely back into your lane.

Infotainment

The standard infotainment system on the 2026 Silverado 1500 will keep you and your passengers connected and entertained wherever you go. Simply connect your smartphone using wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and you are ready to make hands-free calls and texts. This will keep you connected without distracting you from your driving.

Wireless connectivity is standard on all Silverado 1500s, so you can pair your smartphones even if you left your charging cables at home. In addition, most trims either come with a wireless charging pad or have one as an available feature. This will also give you peace of mind if you leave your cables at home.

Most trims of the 2026 Silverado 1500 have an expansive 13.4-inch touchscreen on the infotainment system, making it easy to use your favorite apps. The only exceptions are the WT, Custom, and Custom Trail Boss, which come with a seven-inch touchscreen. Nevertheless, every 2026 Silverado 1500 has a pleasing audio system, so you can stream your favorite music over the infotainment system, providing the perfect soundtrack for your next ride.
