The Chevrolet Silverado is the name that comes to mind when people are asked to choose a durable, versatile, light-duty pickup at a value price. With the introduction of the Silverado EV, General Motors brought its legendary full-size truck design to the world of all-electric vehicles. This model has since been praised for its power and range while offering the capability that Chevy takes pride in.

There was one thing missing from the Chevy Silverado EV lineup when it first hit showrooms, but this piece is now here with the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss. Available with an Extended Range or Max Range battery, this truck adapts for the EV model the brand’s off-road trim level seen on gas-powered Silverados. This Trail Boss has been praised for adding off-road prowess, a rugged look, and the latest technology while maintaining the Silverado’s working nature.

McCluskey Chevrolet is proud to offer the latest Chevy Silverado EV, designed with off-road adventuring in mind. Hop behind the wheel of the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss and discover how you can be serious about off-roading while reducing your environmental impact on the great outdoors you love.

Performance

A red 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss off-roading.

Whether it’s an off-roading or work truck, the foundation is everything. The Trail Boss shares the same underpinnings as other 2026 Chevy Silverado EV trims, but it builds upon them to create a truck for exploring remote forests and mountainous environs, as well as handling everyday tasks.

A Beefy Electric Powertrain

Like all Chevy Silverado EV trucks, the Trail Boss is offered with dual motors and four-wheel drive (4WD). However, it has been enhanced to offer the power and torque you need when navigating rocky terrain, flying over dunes, or negotiating technical trails.

The 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss is available with either an Extended Range battery pack, which produces 625 hp, or a Max Range battery pack, which produces 725 hp. Each has 775 lb-ft of torque when you engage Wide Open Watts mode, which is the most of any Silverado EV, providing acceleration and pulling power for trail commanding.

A Long-Range Battery Pack

With the impressive battery options of the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss, you won’t have to worry about being left high and dry mid-trail run. The EPA estimates the Trail Boss’s range at 410 miles for the Extended Range battery and 478 miles for the Max Range setup.

That’s enough to spend all day and then some out in nature. Level 3 DC Fast-Charging is ultra-fast at 300 kW on the Extended Range Trail Boss and 350 kW on the Max Range, with the latter adding 100 miles of range in just ten minutes.

Towing and Hauling Strength

We know most off-roaders aren’t just bringing themselves; they have friends, cargo, and sometimes overnight equipment or powersports gear. The Extended Range 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss is rated for a towing capacity of 12,500 lbs, which is more than enough for small campers, ATVs, vehicles, and more.

You’ll give up a little with the Max Range Trail Boss, as the extra power reduces towing capacity to 10,500 lbs. Payload ranges from 1,500 to 2,100 lbs, depending on the configuration, with a 71-inch-long bed and a frunk that adds another 10.7 cu.ft. of storage.

Capabilities

Now we get to the meat and potatoes of the 2026 Chevy Silverado EV Trail Boss. Armed with an excellent powertrain and inspired by the gas-powered Silverado 1500 Trail Boss, Chevrolet has added a plethora of features and upgrades to make this electric truck off-road-ready straight from the dealership floor.

A Raised, Tuned Suspension

Off-road topography is nothing like smooth pavement, and the solid-axle High Stance Suspension in the Silverado EV Trail Boss is made to tackle the bumps, dips, and obstacles you’ll encounter. This trim’s chassis also sits two inches higher than a regular Silverado EV to help you clear rocks and hill crests.

It also has an ABS-based rear locking differential to reduce wheel slippage on loose dirt, mud, and snow. With Terrain mode, you can use One-Pedal Driving for easier control and greater focus on steering, while the differential is programmed to activate sooner.

Sturdy All-Terrain Tires

Like every off-road truck, the Silverado EV Trail Boss comes equipped with all-terrain tires to enhance grip—in this case, 35-inch rubber shoes on 18-inch wheels. But Chevy goes the extra mile, updating the steering to help control those tires. The Trail Boss has a standard Sidewinder mode, with four-wheel steering and active rear steer, allowing you to navigate around any stump or rut. For good measure, this mode lets you travel diagonally at speeds below 20 mph.

Other Off-Road Accessories

Those add-ons are plenty to enhance performance, but Chevy provides a few more things to give owners the best off-road experience. All-LED exterior lighting and rain-sensing windshield wipers enhance visibility in challenging conditions, while red tow hooks and a tire inflator kit provide a means of escape from jams.

The front bumper is redesigned to be more durable and clear more obstacles. If you add a Multi-Flex midgate and lower the tailgate, you can carry cargo up to 12 feet long, which is ideal for combined off-road/worksite trucks, or if you want to set up an overlanding camp in the bed.

Versatility for All Adventures

The 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss is made with adventurers in mind, but Chevy knows that adventures aren’t limited to trails and backroads. This truck has numerous other features to keep it charging ahead. It comes with GM’s Aero shutters, LED bed lights, solar-absorbing glass, an integrated trailer brake controller, assist steps, and many more features to help you storm ahead. Add a variety of organizers, rails, and covers to personalize your truck.

Amenities

Although the closest encounters you’ll have are with objects outside your truck, you spend most of your time inside it. Chevrolet has loaded the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss with everything you need to spot hazards, add a snappy soundtrack to your next outing, and much more.

Comfort and Convenience

Like other 2026 Silverado EV trims, the Trail Boss is available exclusively with a Crew Cab, offering over 44 inches of legroom in both the first and second rows. Beyond this spaciousness, standard comfort features include an eight-way power driver’s seat with two-way lumbar support, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.

There is a power inverter for appliances and a three-channel universal home remote to activate your garage door or security system. The Max Range Trail Boss has four 120V outlets and one 240V outlet, all of which are conveniently located on the bed and powered by a 7.2-kW split-phase AC power generator.

Expansive Infotainment Tech

Good technology can elevate any drive, and that’s another highlight the Silverado EV Trail Boss brings to the table, starting with the 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen and 11-inch digital gauge display. The heartbeat is Google Built-In, enabling connected apps, Google Maps navigation, voice commands via Google Assistant, and personalized profiles if your truck has multiple drivers.

Stay connected thanks to a wireless phone charging pad, five USB-C ports spread across the first and second rows, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi 5G hotspot. The Trail Boss also boasts entertainment options like SiriusXM compatibility and a six-speaker sound system.

The Latest Driver Assistance

Wherever you’re driving, the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss has your back. It comes with the full loadout of active driver assistance features in the Chevy Safety Assist suite:

  • Forward collision alerts
  • Enhanced automatic emergency braking
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • A 360-degree camera system

  • Reverse automatic braking
  • Following distance indicator

This package adds a head-up display, the Super Cruise hands-free highway driving tool, a rear camera mirror, trailer integration, a Bose premium seven-speaker sound system, and other ways to enhance on- and off-road driving.

Amenity-wise, the Premium Package comes with ventilated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, driver’s seat memory settings, 12-way passenger seat adjustments, and a floor-mounted storage console. You also get the Multi-Flex tailgate and a spray-on bedliner.
