2027 Chevy Bolt
Since its inception, Chevy has consistently prioritized manufacturing long-lasting, functional, and efficient vehicles with an affordable price point, which has contributed to its developing a strong following over the years. Another reason it has earned its customers’ loyalty is that it’s not afraid to take chances, as seen in its introduction of the all-electric Chevy Bolt in 2016. Perhaps most importantly, the brand knows when to pivot, allowing it to come back stronger than before—and that is precisely where the 2027 Chevy Bolt comes in.
After a brief hiatus, the popular compact all-electric Bolt is returning to dealership lots, poised to take the market by storm and once again offer a smart, affordable, and feature-rich option for those seeking to reduce their carbon footprint while increasing their driving range. The newest version of the Bolt will be available in two trims: the RS and the LT. Even better, you can take either option home for about $30k, with the LT starting at $28,595 and the RS starting at $31,600.[a]

All-Electric Powertrain
It might surprise you to learn that electric cars have been around since the early 1900s, with the Detroit Electric often cited as one of the first mass-produced EVs. That particular EV offered a driving range of around 80 miles. Toward the end of the century, all-electric driving range hadn’t improved all that much, with GM introducing the EV1, which delivered a range between 50 and 95 miles for the first generation and up to 140 miles for the second generation.
Today’s electric vehicles go much further, making them a smart option for a wide range of drivers. For instance, the 2027 Chevy Bolt has an estimated driving range of 255 miles. Powered by GM’s latest EV technology, it is equipped with an X76 electric drive unit that was designed in-house to maximize driving range and efficiency. It’s also a tried-and-true unit, with the Bolt being the tenth model to use it. This real-world testing offers peace of mind that your new Bolt will perform as you need it to, ensuring you get a great return on your investment.
Like other EVs on the market today, the 2027 Bolt also utilizes a blended regenerative braking system. At the heart of this system is the One-Pedal Driving mode. Essentially, you are able to both accelerate and slow down, as well as come to a complete stop, by simply pressing or lifting your foot off the rightmost pedal.
At the same time, the regenerative braking system captures energy to recharge the battery. This results in less brake wear, offers a smoother driving experience, and helps increase range. It is also worth noting that the brake lights will automatically activate when slowing significantly and that you can always press the brake pedal when needing to stop more suddenly.
More Efficient Charging
One of the first questions asked when exploring whether an electric vehicle is right for your driving routine is how fast it can charge. The second is often where it can be charged. With this in mind, Chevy set out to make sure charging is both stress-free and hassle-free.
First, the 2027 Chevy Bolt has a peak charging speed of 150 kWh. While that might not seem significant when considering the number alone, it’s more than twice as fast as the previous Bolt EV. Breaking it down even more, you will find that it can go from 10% to 80% in 26 minutes with public DC Fast Charging. What that means for you is that you can stop in to grab a few groceries, a coffee, or even meander through a bookstore, and less than 30 minutes later, the Bolt is practically at a full charge.
The 2027 Bolt is also the first Chevy with a native NACS charging port. This is an EV charge inlet that is built directly into the car using the North American Charging Standard (NACS). Essentially, instead of relying on an adapter, the Bolt accepts the plug exactly as it comes at NACS-equipped stations. As a result, the setup is faster with fewer compatibility issues, and there is a more efficient integration with the car’s charging hardware. It also gives you access to one of the largest fast-charging networks in the nation.
It is also worth noting that the newest Bolt is backed by an eight-year, 100,000-mile battery limited warranty, and thanks to its new battery technology, you can charge all the way to full without a second thought. In fact, this technology helps it achieve some of the fastest charging speeds possible.
With the charging speed the 2027 Bolt offers, as well as its driving range, any of the anxiety you have had up to now when considering making the transition from a gas-powered to electric powertrain is reduced, allowing you to take full advantage of what today’s EVs offer.
Technological Amenities
The new 2027 Chevy Bolt will be available in two trim levels, the LT and the RS. If you’re familiar with the Chevy brand, you know the RS is the sportier of the two, which may help you determine which trim best matches your driving personality. Either way, you will quickly find that the latest Bolt is well-equipped, with many of the features you would expect and even a few that might surprise you.
For instance, there is a standard 11-inch driver information center at your eye level, just past the steering wheel. This information center gives you real-time data about the vehicle, your trip, and more.
Second, a standard 11.3-inch touchscreen is located in the center of the dashboard. From here, you can access various controls, including climate and audio settings. Additionally, the Bolt is equipped with Google built-in, providing access to features like Google Maps and Google Assistant, among others. You can also enjoy your favorite playlist or catch up on the latest episode of your podcast as you travel from point A to point B.
You will also find multiple USB-C ports throughout the vehicle, as well as a wireless phone charging pad for compatible smart devices in the front console. This ensures that you and your passengers’ devices are charged and ready to go once you reach your destination.
Speaking of your passengers, they will appreciate the headroom and legroom that the 2027 Chevy Bolt offers. Additionally, there are numerous open storage spaces throughout the interior, providing quick and easy access to items they need while maintaining an organized interior.
For you, the hatchback design gives the Bolt a streamlined and modern vibe, while also making loading and unloading easy. Both you and your passengers will enjoy the natural light that beams through the available panoramic sunroof. Additionally, the available heated and ventilated front seats, along with a heated steering wheel, help keep you cozy, while the cushioned seating allows you to relax and enjoy the ride.
Last but not least, the 2027 Chevy Bolt offers a comprehensive list of standard and available driver assistance features, including the ability to drive hands-free, as well as Intersection Collision Mitigation, Rear Automatic Braking, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Braking, among others.
