The 2027 Chevy Colorado enters another model year with an updated powertrain, new convenience features, and the capability to handle daily driving, tough work, and off-road excursions. Whether you’re looking for a family vehicle, a reliable truck for the job, or a weekend adventure vehicle, the 2027 Colorado is built to adapt to your needs.

Since debuting in 2004, the Chevy Colorado has seen regular model-year updates and generational overhauls. For 2027, the Colorado offers five familiar trim levels, with rear-wheel and four-wheel drive available depending on your configuration, as well as with multiple color options. The trim levels of the 2027 model are:

  • The WT
  • The LT
  • The Trail Boss
  • The Z71
  • The ZR2

There have also been some model-year updates and changes to improve the value of the 2027 Colorado. Several of those updates focus on powertrain output, passenger comfort, and connectivity tech, giving shoppers more to love depending on the trim level, packages, and any added equipment.

What’s New

The 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder has been updated, going from its L3B iteration to a new L4B version. In this monumental upgrade, the TurboMax was re-tuned to deliver more horsepower (up by 40) and more torque (up by 25 lb-ft) over the previous iteration.

Another new change is the inclusion of six-way power-adjustable seats for the front passenger seat. This is the first time this feature has been available on the Chevy Colorado in its third generation. This more modular front passenger seat is available as part of the Convenience Package III, exclusively for the 2027 Colorado’s Z71 and ZR2 trims.

The Colorado also adds 5G Wi-Fi hotspot capability for faster wireless connectivity, while the available Universal Home Remote provides convenient access to compatible garage doors and security gates built into the cab. These features greatly increase the versatility and convenience of the Colorado.

Performance

The 2027 Colorado is powered by a 2.7-liter TurboMax four-cylinder. Now in its L4B era, the TurboMax produces 350 hp and 455 lb-ft of torque—up from the 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque of the L3B edition. This TurboMax is again paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and offers multiple drive modes, including Tow/Haul mode and both powertrain-grade and cruise-grade braking.

The TurboMax gives the 2027 Colorado the smooth handling for everyday driving while providing the power needed for hauling and towing. The Colorado can tow up to 7,700 lbs and carry up to 1,684 lbs of payload, making it well-suited for pulling trailers and equipment or carrying materials and cargo. You can easily use a 2027 Chevy Colorado for construction, camping, or moving furniture.

The Colorado is available in rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Four-wheel-drive Colorado models use an AutoTrac transfer case with push-button controls, allowing drivers to select the appropriate drivetrain setting for changing road and trail conditions. The two-speed AutoTrac transfer case’s modes include 2WD HI, 4WD Auto, 4WD HI, and 4WD LO.

Off-Road Capability

For those who seek the legendary off-road capabilities of this midsize pickup, the 2027 Colorado makes electronically controlled automatic locking rear differentials available for WT and LT trims, while these are standard on the Trail Boss and Z71. The Trail Boss and Z71 also get beefy 32-inch all-terrain tires.

The ZR2 trim, meanwhile, takes the Colorado’s off-road hardware further with selectable electronic front and rear differentials, standard 33-inch mud-terrain tires, and an available Multimatic jounce damper system designed to improve control over rough terrain. This equipment provides everything needed for simple drives as well as more serious excursions.

The Trail Boss trim is available with an optional two-inch factory lift kit, while the ZR2 trim comes with a standard two-inch factory lift kit. Skid plates are also available for these off-road trim levels to enhance underbody protection when traveling off the beaten path; this is ideal for those who regularly travel on uneven or rocky terrain or in dense forests with rutted trails.

Design

The 2027 Chevy Colorado combines a midsize footprint with a rugged pickup profile, while its available exterior colors and lighting options give buyers additional ways to tailor its appearance to their tastes, especially for those seeking more exotic hues. Some of the colors available for the latest Colorado include Black, Snowdrift Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, Sunrise Orange, Summit White, Radiant Red Tintcoat, Reef Blue Metallic, and White Sands.

Available LED lighting, automatic on/off headlamps, and IntelliBeam automatic high beams can help improve road visibility, while available auxiliary off-road lights, a roof light bar, and off-road bumper lights provide additional illumination for trail driving. This gives the Colorado the flexibility for both daily driving and for when venturing far off the beaten path, where visibility may be low.

Utility for Work & Play

Trim levels about the 2027 Colorado WT add useful cargo-management features, including the StowFlex tailgate, which boasts an integrated storage compartment for tools, equipment, or items you don’t want affected by the weather, as well as expensive devices you don’t want to leave exposed to prying eyes. This tailgate also has remote locking as a standard feature across the trim lineup.

The Colorado’s EZ Lift & Lower tailgate uses a torsion bar to reduce the effort needed to lower the tailgate, making it easier to access the box bed. This makes it easy to get into and out of the bed, whether you’re loading or unloading building supplies, camping equipment, or work materials.

Available cargo tie-down rings, a spray-on bedliner, and LED bed lighting are also highly useful for those who use their Colorado for heavy hauling or outdoor recreation. Whether you’re hosting a tailgate party or working late into the night on a project, the versatile utility of the box bed and tailgate gives you what you need to operate safely and efficiently.

Convenience

The 2027 Chevy Colorado’s cab combines practical storage, adjustable seating, climate-control features, and connectivity tech designed to make everyday driving more comfortable. With user-adjustable settings, multiple upholstery options, and convenience features, the Colorado makes for an excellent truck that you can continually customize for your (and your passengers’) enjoyment.

For seating, the Colorado can house up to five people across two rows, with front driver and passenger seats and a split bench in the rear. Lower Colorado trims have cloth upholstery, a six-way manual driver’s seat, a four-way manual front passenger seat, and a manually folding second-row split bench.

Upper trims add a mix of cloth and Evotex upholstery, an eight-way power driver’s seat with lumbar control, and a six-way power front passenger seat. Available driver memory settings can store preferred seating positions, allowing the driver to quickly and easily return to their preferred configuration.

Storage & Accessibility

Interior storage includes a center console compartment, while dual cupholders and USB charging ports in the front and rear of the cab help keep everyday items and devices organized. Whether you need to keep a work phone handy or a tablet charged to keep the kids occupied, the cab’s array of charging and storage conveniences is extremely useful.

There’s also underseat storage, making this the perfect place to stash after-school sports equipment or even extra work supplies. The Colorado’s storage flexibility can suit different driver and passenger needs.

Dual-zone climate control is also available, allowing the temperature to be adjusted to regulate the climate for everyone aboard, keeping them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Remote start and power locks make it easy to protect or start the vehicle even when you aren’t inside or near it.

Technology

The 2027 Chevy Colorado pairs digital displays and an infotainment interface with a range of standard driver assistance features.

Every Colorado trim comes standard with an 11-inch digital driver display that can show information such as telemetry, directions, and media; you can customize it depending on what you prefer to see.

This display is accompanied by an 11.3-inch center console touchscreen, which is enhanced with Google built-in, providing a natural source for navigation via Google Maps, access to other apps via Google Play, and Google Assistant voice commands.

The 2027 Colorado also comes with a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, allowing you to pair devices for high-speed internet if you’re off the grid. The infotainment center also enables you to pair your truck to your smartphone via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless Bluetooth also lets you stream your favorite media to the available Bose sound system.

Enhanced Safety Tech

The Chevy Safety Assist suite comes standard on all 2027 Colorado trim levels. This suite includes standard driver assistance features that provide you with alerts and boosted awareness on the go. Some of the features in the Chevy Safety Assist suite include:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Forward Collision Alert
  • Front Pedestrian Braking
  • Following Distance Indicator
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning

The latest Colorado also includes a rear-seat reminder to check the back seats before exiting the vehicle. Additional available driver assistance technology includes Blind Zone Steering Assist and Blind Zone Steering Assist with Trailering, which can provide no-go cues when another vehicle is detected in your blind spot.

Every 2027 Colorado also comes standard with Buckle-to-Drive and Teen Driver. Buckle-to-Drive provides seat-belt reminders before driving, while Teen Driver can monitor the actions of learning drivers, impose safety limits, and generate a report card for parents. For families with new drivers, Teen Driver adds another layer of oversight for when their parents aren’t with them.
