When shopping for a vehicle that promises power, strength, and agility, many of us would look no further than the most popular pickups on the market. Two of these include the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado vs 2018 Toyota Tundra in Cincinnati, OH. Two great vehicles in their own right that promise toughness and reliability. But does one add more comfort and style than the other? Is one both powerful and fuel-efficient? Does one offer more technology advancements and safety features?

Comparing these two vehicles, they are almost neck and neck. Each vehicle has produced new feature changes every year, and both have improved terms of safety and functionality. But when listing each pickup truck’s most impressive features, it’s not difficult to see why the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado wins out for most car buyers.

  • Features

A dark brown 2018 Chevy Silverado, which wins when comparing the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado vs. 2018 Toyota Tundra, is parked in a field during a sunset near Cincinnati, OH. 2018 Chevrolet Silverado

The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado has all-new advanced safety features, including Driver Assistance Systems. These systems are a comprehensive suite, including a tire pressure monitor system with a new tire fill alert. The suite also comes standard with a rear vision camera and a brand-new locking rear differential. This is optimal for enhanced traction even in the worse of driving conditions.

And alongside it, the StabiliTrak with Trailer Sway keeps this driving pace steady. The following are the rest of this exciting package: integrated cruise control, auto grade braking, diesel exhaust braking, Digital Steering Assist, a remote locking tailgate, and a full complement of airbags. There’s also an available the Teen Driver system, and Driver Alert Package with lane departure warning, the Safety Alert Seat with front and rear park assist, and forward collision alert. CornerStep rear bumper is a popular new safety feature that enhances the towing experience and makes loading and unloading cargo safe and easy for any driver. This includes the EZ Lift and Lower Tailgate and new LED cargo box lighting.

The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado goes beyond safety, with the inclusion of an extensive features list with all of the latest state-of-the-art advanced technology. These capabilities give the Chevrolet owner even more confidence, connectivity, and convenience. The all too necessary 4G LTE connectivity is complete with a reliable WiFi hotspot. These features also include wireless device charging and the choice between either a MyLink 7-inch or 8-inch color touchscreen infotainment system. All of this plus some extra fun stuff: navigation capabilities, remote vehicle starting, and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel.

    2018 Toyota Tundra

Toyota mostly kept up with Chevrolet, with the inclusion of many additional safety and performance features. What critics are raving about is the the Toyota Safety Sense P package. Any model and any trim selected incorporates the safety features Lane Departure Alert, auto high beams, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, upgraded sway bars and sport-tuned suspension.

The Toyota Safety Sense-P suite comes standard in an attempt to compete with Chevrolet’s all-inclusive safety features and technology. But while Chevrolet has many diverse technological capabilities, Toyota emphasizes its collision avoidance system, camera, and radar system to help the driver avoid an accident. Brake assistance follows suit, with the ability to automatically slow down the vehicle when necessary. Toyota also has their own version of lane-departure warnings, automatic high-beams, and dynamic radar cruise control to help the driver adjust their speed.

Altogether, it seems that while both vehicles are popular choices in their pickup class, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado has more features, enhancements, and upgrades to brag about. And the numbers don’t lie. In the end, you simply get more bang for your buck with the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado.

  • Performance

A black 2018 Chevy Silverado is shown pulling a house trailer. 2018 Chevrolet Silverado

The stats are black and white. The Silverado definitely out-muscles the Tundra. Horsepower for the Silverado is up to 445 hp while the Tundra falls behind with the highest at 381 hp. With 3 new powertrains to choose from, the engines are powerful but also economical as the fuel efficiency ratings are surprising. The 2018 Chevrolet Silverado is EPA rated at 22 mpg/highway.

    2018 Toyota Tundra

Toyota Tundra is a full-size, half-ton pickup, even with its size, it still falls behind in power the horsepower ranging from 310 to 381. And even though it has a high towing capacity ranging from 6,400 to 10,500 pounds, the Silverado still outshines ranging from 13,000 to 14,500 pounds.

However, all new Tundra’s come standard with a 5.7L V-8 engine, which is impressive among pickups in its class. A standard V-8 gives driving the Tundra an extra punch and can make driving this vehicle just as fun as driving the Silverado.

  • Style

A silver 2018 Silverado special edition, Redline, is parked in a dark garage.

Between the two, it seems that the Chevrolet Silverado stands out with its distinctive, modern look, atypical for many pickup trucks in its class. In this way, it also has more visual appeal than the Tundra, which by comparison can appear very boxy.

    2018 Chevrolet Silverado

It’s clear designers want more for the Silverado than to be a run-of-the-mill work truck. This is why the 2018 produces more color options. With the upgrade of the new premium Redline Edition package, giving the Silverado an even more unique, stylish, and urban look.

    2018 Toyota Tundra

This model does, in fact, have new trims available with upgrades. The popular TRD Sport trim includes including a redesigned grille, new LED headlamps, and a hood scoop. The upgrades are in line with the Tundra working harder, rather than looking better. Toyota has introduced five new colors, but also new Bilstein shocks, and TRD front and rear anti-sway bars.

  • Space

The brown leather interior of a high trim level of the 2018 Silverado is shown.

    2018 Chevrolet Silverado

With a comfortable and quiet interior, the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado allows for a front and back that are very roomy. Enough room for five adults, two in front and three in back. And beyond these standard features, you can opt for the seating upgrades with heated and ventilated front seats.

    2018 Toyota Tundra

Critics consider the space inside the Toyota Tundra to be merely adequate and nothing to rave about. Unfortunately, it requires upgraded trims and the frequent folding and unfolding of seats to create the amount of desired space that comes standard in the Chevrolet Silverado. The space shows up in any of the three cargo-bed lengths, which also require trim upgrades. But not all of them are available with every cab configuration. If you upgrade to the Double Cab, you can get up to 8.1 feet in your cargo bed. And while these new beds are impressive, they still get in the way of having a spacious, comfortable cabin.
