From what we know right now about the 2021 Chevy Suburban, there will be three engines available for you to choose from. It is possible that some of this information might change prior to release, but we doubt it – just keep in mind that official announcements for much of this information have not yet been made. With three options available, you can choose just what you want and get the perfect full-size SUV for your needs.
The standard engine on the 2021 Chevy Suburban will likely be a 5.3L V8 engine that offers up to 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. That is a fantastic place to start, but if you want even more power, then there will be an available 6.2L V8 engine that provides up to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque for an incredible driving experience. One thing that will make the all-new Suburban even more interesting will be the available 3.0L Duramax 6-cylinder diesel engine that is expected to give you up to 277 hp and up to 460 lb-ft of torque.
From what we have heard, all three of these engines will be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which means you get an amazing driving experience no matter which one you choose. All models are expected to have rear-wheel drive standard, with all-wheel drive available if you prefer that, though it is likely that the off-road Z71 trim will come with all-wheel drive standard. One of the aspects of the all-new 2021 Chevy Suburban that we are most excited about is the updates the exterior of the vehicle is receiving. While the Suburban is already a large vehicle, as a full-size model, it is actually growing slightly to be more than an inch longer overall. Even more importantly, the wheelbase is being extended by more than four inches compared to the current model.
The impressive improvements do not end there; the 2021 Chevy Suburban is getting an independent rear suspension for the first time ever, along with available magnetic ride control, which will create an incredibly smooth driving experience. The all-new Suburban is also getting a segment-first 4-corner air ride adaptive suspension, which is expected a little later in its lifespan, to provide some of the smoothest handling and cornering possible. These exterior upgrades will not only improve performance but also help with additional interior space.
From what we have heard, there will be six different trims available for the 2021 Chevy Suburban, which includes an off-road-focused Z71 trim. This trim will feature 20-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, along with skid plates on the underside of the vehicle, and a two-speed transfer case for the all-wheel drive system. Altogether, the Suburban Z71 will be an incredible camping and off-road machine, with plenty of power for towing a boat, and tremendous interior space for friends, family, and supplies.
Although the larger wheelbase and new suspension are great in their own right, they also mean the all-new 2021 Chevy Suburban will have more space inside too. Just like previous models, the 2021 Suburban will be a three-row, full-size SUV, and the longer wheelbase equates to about 2 inches of additional legroom for your second and third-row passengers. If you have any adults that tend to ride in those rows (especially ones with long legs), they will certainly appreciate that.
The all-new independent rear suspension will result in a lower cargo floor than previous models, and that, combined with the longer wheelbase, will give you a lot more space for cargo in your 2021 Suburban. It is expected that this will create more than 2 cu.ft. of additional cargo space behind the third row and a tremendous improvement to overall cargo space. We have heard that the total cargo space could be more than 144 cu.ft. in the 2021 Chevy Suburban, which would be more than 20 cu.ft. of additional space beyond what you can get right now.
Although we do not yet know everything you will get inside the all-new 2021 Chevy Suburban, what we have seen so far is truly impressive. More space for your passengers and cargo will be great, but the tech features are getting fantastic upgrades, starting with an available 10-inch Infotainment display. This updated display will look absolutely stunning and support up to nine cameras, so you have terrific visibility while driving and backing up, especially when towing.
There will be an available power sliding center console that can shift up to 10 inches to reveal additional storage options. You will also be able to get a 15-inch heads up display with the 2021 Chevy Suburban. This is one of the largest heads up displays we have ever seen, which will project information onto your windshield, in full color, including turn-by-turn directions, incoming calls, and safety alerts that function with available safety systems. This lets you keep your eyes on the road and still know what is going on at all times.
One of the most exciting additions to the 2021 Chevy Suburban, especially if you tend to have young passengers in need of entertainment, is the available rear-seat media system that includes a pair of 12-inch displays for your passengers. This is sure to help keep kids and other rowdy passengers entertained, especially on long road trips that can sometimes be difficult. There will also be numerous charging ports and USB ports located throughout the interior of the all-new Suburban to let everyone keep their devices charged, along with a wireless charging pad for you and your front-seat passenger.
With a longer exterior and more room inside for passengers and cargo, the all-new 2021 Chevy Suburban is looking more and more like everything we could have hoped for in our favorite updated full-size SUV. The independent rear suspension with an air ride design will ensure one of the smoothest and most luxurious rides on four wheels, with powerful engines that make it a real joy to drive. Meanwhile, major interior improvements, including an available 10-inch Infotainment display, an available 15-inch heads up display, and a pair of 12-inch rear entertainment displays, showcase the new look of Chevy sophistication.
