The current-generation Corvette's mid-engine design has been dropping jaws and turning heads since its debut, and it's left some people wondering what drastic move Chevrolet will make next. The mid-engine Corvette is already an amazing piece of machinery, but we all know that Chevy does not settle for amazing when it can go even further—and they've done precisely that. With the 2024 Chevy Corvette E-Ray, they have delivered an electrified performance in the Corvette for the first time, thanks to its new hybrid design. This is not a hybrid meant purely for extended gas mileage and long road trips but rather is a sports car that takes full advantage of additional power from a battery and electric motor.
The first thing about the Corvette E-Ray that has everyone talking is just how well Chevy has managed to make their most impressive sports car even more remarkable. The E-Ray features a 6.2L Small Block V8 engine that delivers 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, which is an amazing start—and it would be more than enough power for a lot of other vehicles—but the Corvette isn't satisfied with only 495 hp. When joined by its electric motor, which delivers 160 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque of its own, the Corvette E-Ray gets a combined 655 hp for UNBELIEVABLE power output. Perhaps best of all, the V8 engine powers the rear axle while the electric motor sends power to the front wheels, which means this sports car has an effective electric all-wheel drive (eAWD) performance.
Not only is the Corvette E-Ray incredibly powerful, but it also looks absolutely gorgeous. The exterior has been updated with wider fenders, quarter panels, and fascias for a bold, stunning appearance combined with standard ground effects and body-color accents. Inside, you will find an equally remarkable interior, including available Napa leather seating with carbon-fiber trim and customer leather-wrapped details throughout. Combine this with a standard heads-up display, an available Performance Data Recorder to help you track and improve your driving proficiency, and an available 14-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system, and you have a sports car truly beyond compare.

Impressive technology, a good-looking exterior, and comfortable seating are all important aspects, but every vehicle out there has these sorts of features. What sets a sports car apart from everything else is the kind of performance it delivers; Chevy's engineers understand this better than just about everyone else, and they have truly gone the extra mile with the Corvette E-Ray. This is a celebration of automotive power and a vehicle that leaves everything else in its dust—and quite literally, as few other cars can hope to keep up with it.
For starters, you have the engine: a 6.2L LT2 Small Block V8 beast that delivers a massive 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque all on its own. If this were where the story of the E-Ray's power started and stopped, it would still be impressive, but what takes it to the next level is the hybrid power system. The standard engine is located at a mid-vehicle position and powers the rear axle, just like in any other C8 Corvette, but it is joined by an electric motor that sends an additional 160 hp and 125 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels. This creates a combined 655 hp from the engine and motor, allowing the E-Ray to go from zero to sixty in just 2.5 seconds and run the quarter-mile in only 10.5 seconds. This will yield an unparalleled driving experience for its price point.
Beyond the fact that this hybrid design delivers more power, it also means the Corvette E-Ray features an eAWD performance standard. Since both axles are getting power, the E-Ray is surprisingly well-suited to driving in rain, slush, and snow, making it far more practical for most drivers than the standard Corvette. This affords exceptional control when you are behind the wheel and ensures the E-Ray can always grip the road with remarkable traction and precision. There is even a Stealth Mode that utilizes the new battery and motor for short-range electric-only driving at speeds up to 45 mph; in other words, no matter what you need the Corvette E-Ray to do, it has been built to handle it.

The current-generation Corvette already looks amazing, but Chevy has gone even further with the E-Ray and elevated it to the next level of stunning design. For starters, several functional changes were made to enhance the look of the Corvette E-Ray and improve its performance. These include adding wider fenders, quarter panels, and fascias to the E-Ray that help improve its aerodynamic form and boost performance while ensuring it retains the sleek look that the modern Corvette is known for. It has a shorter nose than previous-generation models due to the shift to a mid-engine design, and it has a bold stance that immediately evokes a sense of raw power and unmitigated muscle.
The E-Ray also features newly designed wheels that are wider, paired with exclusive all-season tires that perfectly match the eAWD engineering of this car. These wheels look fantastic and help you stay in control—although if you prefer using your Corvette only when the weather is nicest, then the available ZER Performance Package (which includes high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S ZP summer-only tires) is worth considering. As you would expect, the E-Ray is available as either a coupe or a convertible, with the same amazing performance and innovative features offered for either setup.
Inside the Corvette E-Ray, you will find one of the most stunning interiors in the auto industry, with a cockpit that surrounds you as the driver and concentrates on your experience. From an infotainment display canted toward you to the row of controls running between the seats, everything is designed around your experience behind the wheel. The available Napa leather seats with carbon-fiber trim are incredibly comfortable and gorgeous, while an available custom leather-wrapped interior brings it all together. Plus, for its inaugural year, the E-Ray is available with an all-new Artemis Dipped interior featuring deep green tones on most interior surfaces; Chevy is offering this unique look only on 2024 models, and this palette will set these first-year editions apart from those that follow.

Impressive technology has been a hallmark of the current-generation Corvette, and it should be no surprise that the E-Ray is set to build on that. There are three different trims available—starting with 1LZ, then 2LZ, and finally a 3LZ—with different features and options offered on them. Keep these in mind when looking at what is available. With the standard 1LZ trim, you get fantastic tech features inside, including a head-up display standard on every model, giving you relevant drive information projected right onto the windshield. This makes it easy to keep track of things, including your speed and other data, without taking your eyes off the road. A rear camera mirror is also standard on all models, and the infotainment system was updated for a better overall driving experience.
Moving up from the standard 1LZ model to the higher trims, you will find a number of upgrades included at each level—and it is worth noting that these are generally the same whether you are interested in a coupe or a convertible model. The 2LZ, for example, features a wireless charging pad for compatible devices, a Performance Data Recorder to help you track your performance and improve your driving technique, and HD Front and Rear Vision cameras. With the 2LZ, you also get a 14-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system for an incredible time on the road. Going up to the highest trim, the 3LZ, you get to enjoy a number of additional improvements, including an updated interior that features leather details and a carbon-fiber steering wheel with shift paddles. At the end of the day, any Corvette E-Ray is going to give you an amazing driving experience thanks to advanced technology designed around immersing you in your ride.
