  • Performance

A black 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD High Country is shown from the side parked in a driveway.

Whether you are conquering rock-strewn roads, towing the family trailer, or hauling heavy cargo, performance matters. Performance comes down to the kind of engine purring beneath the hood, the quality of your transmission, the dynamics of your chassis, and a few other key components that can take your truck from zero to sixty or stop it dead in its tracks. With the right configuration, your truck can be the ultimate performer, and the 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD delivers those goods.

    Engine Options

For power that impresses, try the standard gas-powered 6.6-liter V8 engine paired with the 10-speed Allison automatic transmission for smooth acceleration and power you can feel. Cranking out 401 hp and 464 lb-ft. of torque, the 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD becomes more than a truck; it becomes a workhorse capable of having your back when you need it. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 18,700 lbs and haul up to 3,759 lbs.

If you are looking for all or nothing, the Duramax turbo diesel 6.6-liter V8 engine is for you. Almost double the max trailering weight, the Duramax is capable of trailering 22,500 lbs when equipped properly. Thanks to 470 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque, the turbo diesel V8 is a powerhouse controlled by the remarkable Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. You can also bump up how much you can haul to 3,850 lbs when going with the turbo diesel.

    Stability And Control

The Chevy Silverado 2500 HD is designed to put all that power to good use. That’s why it’s equipped with an automatic locking rear differential. The rear wheels will lock up automatically to maintain traction or gain control if the differential senses wheel slippage. The locking rear differential will keep you safer, whether you are traversing trails or navigating adverse weather.

StabiliTrak is a system that also works to add more control in varying situations. StabiliTrak is a traction and stability control system that can manipulate specific drive features to improve response and handling. If the system senses wheel slip, it can apply the brakes or change torque to keep you on the road. Slick conditions don’t stand a chance.

Trailer Sway Control, Hill Start Assist, and Brake Assist are also included to enhance the control of your Silverado. Hill Start Assist prevents rollback when starting from an incline, keeping the brakes on while you switch to acceleration. Brake Assist increases braking power if it senses emergency braking. Lastly, Trailer Sway Control employs similar changes if it senses your attached trailer is swaying or losing control to keep it stable.

  • Safety

The Silverado 2500 HD wouldn’t be a Chevy without a full deck of advanced safety features thoughtfully designed to get you the most out of your truck. From the full suite of tech included with Chevy Safety Assist to the well-developed driver assistance features, there will always be a helping hand. Plus, with the extended trailering tech, your safety is improved under any circumstance.

    Chevy Safety Assist

Chevy Safety Assist puts some of the most advanced Chevy safety features together to ensure you can drive with complete confidence. Each feature works together to cover you from front to back. Chevy Safety Assist includes six distinct safety features that work with each other to provide a more advanced detection and prevention system. One of the first safety features that work with you is the Following Distance Indicator. You can make an informed decision about your driving habits by seeing how closely you follow the vehicles in front of you. The indicator measures your distance and relays the information to gap time in seconds.

Forward Collision Alert works similarly to the Following Distance Indicator by monitoring how close you are to the vehicle in front. The system can issue a tailgating alert if it senses you are too close. If the previous alerts are ineffective and a collision is detected, you will receive an alert to better prepare you for impact and, ideally, give you a chance to act. When a potential collision is imminent, Automatic Emergency Braking kicks in to mitigate or lessen the impact. With the same concept, Front Pedestrian Braking can detect pedestrians in front of the vehicle and issue an alert. If need be, the system can increase driver braking or initiate emergency braking. The system works at speeds under 50 mph and with adequate lighting.

Coming up next is Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. Lane Keep Assist kicks in when the system senses you are drifting or unintentionally leaving your lane. If your turn signal is on or the vehicle is being deliberately directed to exit the lane, then the system won’t correct it. Lane Departure Warning uses a subtle turn in the steering wheel or auditory alerts to notify you when it senses unintentional departure. The last feature in this safety bundle is Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist. This feature allows the vehicle to turn the headlamps on or off based on the outside lighting conditions.

    Driver Assistance

Safety and driver assistance features go hand in hand. They make driving safer, easier, more reliable, and more comfortable. That’s why Chevy packs its vehicles full of driver assistance features like the Rear Camera Mirror. This nifty feature turns your traditional rearview mirror into a camera view of what’s behind you. Use the mirror or switch to the camera view for an unobstructed view.

Don’t have to only depend on Rear Camera View when reversing at low speeds; rear Park Assist provides additional “back-up” by providing distance notifications to objects behind you. For obstacles coming from the rear sides, Rear Cross Traffic Alert ensures you get the whole picture when reversing. These features make navigating and parking easier and safer. Using views retrieved from the front and rear cameras, High-Definition Surround Vision provides a blended view that renders as a digital overhead feed. This gives you clear views of all sides of your vehicle to help you locate obstacles and avoid impacts. To work safely, it only engages at lower speeds.

  • Towing/Hauling

A black 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD High Country is shown towing a white boat on a winding road.

A truck isn’t a truck without the ability to tow, trailer, and haul. That’s why the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD is equipped with everything necessary to do it all with ease. From advanced trailering tech to a unique tailgate, the Silverado is made to give you the ultimate truck experience.

    Trailering Tech

Chevy’s advanced trailering tech is designed to cover both vehicle and trailer for full safety coverage. Plus, with recent updates to previous tech, more trailer styles are now compatible. Enhanced Transparent Trailer is one such tech that not only works with traditional trailers, but now works with fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers. Transparent Trailer uses camera views that make the trailer you are towing appear invisible, allowing you to see behind your trailer to your surroundings.

Changes have also been made to the Adaptive Cruise Control system, making it work with the additional weight of a trailer. Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailering considered how braking is impacted and added drag from the weight of the trailer. As an extra measure, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert notifies of any obstacles in the blind zone of not just the truck but also the trailer. Chevy has also included a GCW Alert that provides a warning if the combined gross weight of the trailer and vehicle exceeds the rating.

    Hauling Out

The Chevy Silverado 2500 HD offers more cargo volume than any other HD truck outside of Chevy’s lineup. It’s designed to give you the absolute most out of your truck by choosing the features that matter most. Customize how you use your truck by choosing from three cab and two bed configurations. The Silverado 2500 HD is available as a regular, double, and crew cab with the option of either a standard or long bed. Get 69.5 cu.ft. of cargo volume when you choose the standard bed option or bump it up to the long bed to get 83.5 cu.ft. of cargo.

The Durabed is constructed in a way that makes hauling convenient. Cargo lighting is included in the form of LED corner pillar lamps and cab-mounted lights, hitch lighting, and lighting on the exterior lamps. An available 120-volt outlet offers power where you need it, and the addition of 12 high-strength tie-downs makes securing cargo easy. One of the most impressive features of the Durabed is the distinctive Multi-Flex Tailgate with six unique functions. Fold the main tailgate or inner gate up for two different cargo stops. Fold it down for a step or for easier cargo access. Need to work on the go? You can even transform the tailgate into a portable workstation, so your office goes where you do.
