The 2016 Chevy Silverado is a a force to be reckoned with, with a new front end. The new face of Chevy has a new grill and design shift from the old to include headlights that are aesthetically smaller than in the past. Although performance wise nothing has changed with the headlights, that’s the only place where the old and new are the same for the new 2016 Chevy Silverado. The new look also includes a much wider profile, a profile that has been made as wide as possible. This truck has the impressive, kinetic silhouette of a line biker during a blitz.

Better Fuel Economy

There is something new under the hood of the new 2016 Chevy Silverado. The old vanguard being changed out engine wise is the 6.2L V-8 to the 5.3L V-8 with the new eight-speed transmission. Now the Silverado is more efficient than ever, although so far the numbers on actual fuel economy remain unreleased. It is a safe gamble, though, that the miles per gallon will only get better with the new transmission with the new engine, pushing the Silverado to the front of its class.

Stepping Up To Meet New Safety Standards

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety added a new test their battery, and the new 2016 Chevy Silverado changed in accordance. Their tests are crash tests, and the new kind of crash is the frontal offset crash, or the “small overlap test.” What these means in more easily understood, none geek terms, is there is a new test intended to rate how vehicles do when they strike something head on, but not directly head on. So think of your vehicles striking a pole, for instance, on the driver’s side. Or think of clipping the corner of a building with the passenger side doing around thirty or forty miles per hour.

What does this new test mean? Where did it come from? Both good questions drivers are asking. In 2009 the IIHS had a study reveal to them that vehicles with good ratings for frontal collisions there was a weakness—small overlap collisions were nearly 25% of the serious injuries and fatal injuries. These being inflicted on the front seat occupants. But the 2016 Chevy Silverado had more sheet metal and a more rigid frame so the front passengers are safer.
