Exploring the Chevy Trax
If you’ve not looked at the Chevy lineup lately—or, more specifically, the Trax—then you might not have realized that the original Trax was redesigned for the 2024 model year after a brief hiatus. The newest Trax is larger both inside and out, offers enhanced safety features, and comes equipped with advanced technology features to keep you and your passengers connected during the drive.
Additionally, you will find that the 2025 Trax offers you the choice of five trim levels: LS, 1RS, LT, 2RS, and ACTIV, all with an MSRP under $25k. For that price, you might not believe you’ll truly find enhanced safety features on board, as mentioned, but as you will see, what you get will surprise you.
Chevy Safety Assist
Chevy has long prioritized safety, creating a collection of features called Chevy Safety Assist. What that means for the 2025 Chevy Trax is a list of six standard driver assistance features to help you get from point A to point B. Those features include…
Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking: These work to scan the road ahead for changes in traffic flow or obstacles that might result in a collision if you continue at the current rate of speed. When detected, you will receive an alert, allowing you to respond. If, however, you will not be able to stop in time, the brakes will automatically be applied. While you might not be able to completely avoid the collision, the hope is that any damage to the vehicle or occupants will be minimized.
Front Pedestrian Braking: This system works similarly to the one above, only it scans for pedestrians entering your space instead of vehicles. It is particularly useful on the crowded city streets of Cincinnati or in unfamiliar areas. As noted above, the brakes will be automatically applied if necessary, helping you avoid a possible collision.
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning: One minute, you’re safe in the center of your lane, and the next, you’ve veered off course, and you’re headed to one side or the other. This safety feature helps keep you centered by sending a visual alert to your driver information center, letting you know you’re too close to the outer lines. Additionally, it can provide a gentle tug to the steering wheel to help you get centered again. It’s important to note that this system does not activate when the turning signal is engaged.
Following Distance Indicator: This feature can be set to your specifications or remain on the default setting, whichever you prefer. In essence, you will be alerted through the driver information center when you’ve eclipsed the span you’ve set as your safe following distance.
IntelliBeam High Beam Assist: While this might not seem like a safety issue, not having to worry about turning on your high beams can be a big support when you’re traveling at night, particularly if you’re in an unfamiliar area. The system is able to scan the road ahead to sense if the high beams are needed, turning them on and off automatically.
In addition to these six, you will also find that the 2025 Chevy Trax is equipped with the brand’s signature Teen Driver mode. This tool uses a specialized key fob that allows you to set certain parameters, such as muting the radio if the driver and front-seat passenger aren’t buckled in or limiting the vehicle’s speed. Additionally, you and your teen can review an in-vehicle report card to see how they’re doing, allowing you to encourage safe driving habits and offer them tips.
Additional Safety Features
Beyond those six, there are also additional features that might be included, depending on the trim level you choose. For instance, Rear Park Assist is exactly what it sounds like: It helps you navigate safely in reverse, which can be a big bonus when trying to park in downtown Cincinnati. Additionally, Adaptive Cruise Control helps you maintain a safe distance between you and the car in front of you by adjusting your speed. Other optional safety features include Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert.
Our team can explore these additional features and what packages need to be added for you to enjoy them. We can also review how each one works to ensure you get the best fit for your driving needs.
OnStar Services
Each 2025 Chevy Trax is able to connect with OnStar for additional safety features. However, these features are subscription-based, so it is up to you whether you want the added protection or not. The good news is that it is easy to subscribe or cancel as you see fit. In all, there are three plans to consider:
Connected Vehicle Plan: This is the basic plan, giving you the ability to locate your vehicle remotely, start it with the push of a button on your phone, connect to the vehicle’s Wi-Fi hotspot, and enjoy Spotify and Hulu, as well as unlimited data.
Essentials Plan: This plan gives you instant access to OnStar advisors who offer assistance in case of an emergency, such as a crash or if your vehicle is stolen. Additionally, you can view real-time information about your vehicle from the convenience of your phone. Not sure if you need to leave early to get gas? Simply log into the app and find out.
Premium Plan: When you opt for this plan, you get access to all the Trax’s best services and features. It is the most popular plan for good reason, as it offers safety, security, and connectivity.
