3 Reasons a Quick Oil Change is Better than DIY

You may dread taking your car in for an oil change. You have to sit there for a few hours while you wait for your car, or you have to make arrangements to drop off your car. Both scenarios can be very inconvenient. It may seem as soon as you’re finished with one oil change, it’s time to do it again.

You may be tempted to do your own oil change to help you save time and to fit it into your schedule where it’s most convenient. However, a quick oil change will always be a better choice than doing it yourself. Here’s why:

It’s Faster

If you really want to save time, you’ll bring your car in for the quick oil change. Most places will complete the oil change in 30 minutes, but some may take up to an hour.

Doing the oil change yourself will take much longer. Even if you don’t count going to the store to buy the oil and new filter, you’ll still have to jack up your car, drain out all the oil, change the filter, add the new oil, put everything back together and take your oil waste to the right receptacle (which may require a drive to a recycling center).

Professionals have streamlined the process and done it so many times that they can act quickly. You’ll probably take an hour to do the oil change, not counting trips to the store and the recycling center.

It Costs Less

Service centers have wholesale contracts that allow them to get supplies like oil and oil filters for much less than retail. Even when you are paying for labor for a quick oil change, your overall cost will be less than buying the materials yourself and calculating the cost of your own time.

Save money and just hire the professionals to do the job.

It’s Done by Professionals

When professionals perform a quick oil change, they aren’t just changing out a filter and old oil. They are also looking for signs of leaks or other problems around the oil chamber and the engine. They’ll also be able to spot other potential trouble spots while they’re under the hood, such as cracked belts or worn brakes.

If you do your own oil change, you likely won’t notice these issues, and you’ll put your car in jeopardy. You won’t know there’s a problem until your car is having issues and you are faced with an expensive repair.

Leave your oil changes to the professionals. Come in to McCluskey Chevrolet for a quick oil change that will cost less and will get you in and out in no time.
