A Guide to Maintaining a Hybrid Toyota in Monroe

Routine Maintenance Essentials

Many of the hybrid options in the Toyota lineup utilize two electric motors in conjunction with a gas-powered engine, such as the models mentioned earlier. Oil & Engine

Since Toyota hybrids still have an internal-combustion engine, they still need regular oil and filter changes. Toyota recommends oil changes about every 5,000-10,000 miles (or roughly six to twelve months), depending on driving conditions, which is longer than what you might expect. This increased span is thanks to the use of synthetic oil that allows for a longer period between oil changes.

You will also find that some models, particularly those using synthetic 0W-16/20 oil, can often go up to 10,000 miles between services. It is essential to consult your owner’s manual to ensure your vehicle receives what it needs.

Brake System

It may surprise you to learn that hybrid models weigh slightly more. This is due to the added weight of the electric motors and battery pack. At the same time, these motors also deliver instant torque, which might lead to quicker tire wear. For this reason, it’s a good idea to get the tires rotated and balanced every 5,000-7,500 miles to prevent uneven wear. It is also important to check tire pressure monthly, as properly inflated tires improve fuel economy, just as they do on any car.

Filters & Fluids

This is due to high heat accelerating battery wear and extreme cold reducing performance. Regenerative Braking

Additionally, like any other vehicle, that 12V battery will need to be replaced every few years.
