Add Style to Your Hard-Working Chevy Silverado HD with a Custom Sport Appearance Package
Chevy Silverado HD Custom Sport Appearance Package
When you think of models like the 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD you imagine the hard-working rumble of a monstrous engine and massive payloads as you are pulling a house off of its foundation. Built for hard-work and heavy-duty operations, the Chevy Silverado HD series will get the job done without a doubt, but are not often characterized as “stylish”. While that may have been true for past editions, the introduction of the Chevy Silverado HD Custom Sport appearance package has added style to the repertoire of these heavy-duty Chevy models.
Silverado Custom Sport HD models will incorporate body-colored front and rear bumpers with a matching body-colored grille, delivering a monochromatic style that belies the industrious nature of this pickup truck. To accent the color-matched appearance of the new Custom Sport HD, Chevy designers have added chrome accent bars to the front end as well as chrome door handles, chrome body-side moldings and chrome trailering mirrors.
To further set the new Chevy Silverado HD Custom Sport apart from the rest of the trucks on the jobsite, this appearance package adds 20-inch polished aluminum wheels to the Silverado 2500HD. Chevy Silverado 3500HD models outfitted with the new style will employ 18-inch polished aluminum wheels for single-rear-wheel editions and 17-inch polished aluminum wheels for dually models. With new wheels, these diligent Silverados will be hard to miss when you are on the jobsite, leaving a lasting impression on employers and clients.
The new Custom Sport HD appearance package is available for Silverado LT or LTZ trims in an eye-catching Summit White or classic Black. Suggested retail packages for the new Silverado Custom Sport HD models will range from $700 to $1,695 depending on which model you select. Falling in line with other head-turning appearance packages like the Chevy Colorado Trail Boss or the Chevy Silverado Midnight Edition, the Chevy Silverado HD Custom Sport appearance package can add flair to what is otherwise considered a functional, hard-working and heavy-duty pickup truck.
2020 Update
The Custom Sport is No More
The all-new 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD is the start of a new generation for this legendary heavy-duty pickup, and with greater power and performance than before come a long list of other fantastic changes. While we certainly loved the Custom Sport Appearance package from before, it’s no longer available on the Silverado 2500HD, while other options and features have moved to the forefront. There are a lot of packages available for the 2500HD, including many that alter performance and trailering potential.
Within all of these available packages, some do have a direct impact on the exterior appearance of the 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. Navigating everything that’s on offer can get a little overwhelming, however, so we thought we’d take a moment to look it over and highlight some of our favorite options for you. We’ll also have a look at the exterior in general, and what you can expect with each trim level of the 2500HD in terms of exterior appearance and features. Ultimately, you want to drive away in a truck that you really love, and that includes both performance and the aesthetic appeal of your pickup.
Overall Appearance of the 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
First things first, let’s take a quick look at the exterior of the 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and see what it has to offer overall. As a full-size pickup, the 2500HD is as large and powerful as you’d expect, with a length of over 22 feet, a width of over 6 feet, and standing just over 6 feet tall. As you can see, it’s a large truck, and there’s no mistaking it for a midsize model, which should come as no surprise for a heavy-duty pickup.
You have different options for the configuration of the 2020 Silverado 2500HD, starting with a regular cab and a 98-inch long bed. There’s also an available double cab, with either an 82-inch standard bed or the long bed, as well as a crew cab with either the standard or long bed for you to choose from. While the larger and more powerful Silverado 3500HD has a dual rear-wheel configuration available, you cannot choose this option with the 2500HD, so keep that in mind.
The front end of the 2020 Silverado 2500HD is large and bold, with a front grille that makes an immediate impression and demonstrates the kind of power the 2500HD has to offer. The bed of the truck features 12 tie-downs standard to make it as useful as possible, along with a number of available features that include lighting and power outlets. The integrated bed steps just in front of the rear tires make it easy to get to anything you need in the bed of the truck, whether you need to access it from the rear or closer to the cab.
Appearance and Features by Trim
Five different trims are available for the 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, and while these might not strictly be appearance packages, the trim you choose does impact the exterior design of the truck in certain ways. Of course, there is a wide range of other features affected by your choice of trim, including interior comfort and safety features, so keep these in mind as part of the big picture when choosing the right pickup.
The trim levels for the Silverado 2500HD are the:
- Work Truck – This is the starting trim for the Silverado 2500HD and includes the integrated bed steps and easy bed access, 12 standard bed tie-downs, and a black front grille surround with a black center bar. It comes with 17-inch painted silver wheels, black front, and rear bumpers, and black mirror caps and door handles.
- Custom – Stepping up to the Custom, you get 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with high gloss black-painted accents and body-color front and rear bumpers. The Custom also features a body-color surround and center bar, with black mesh inserts. It has black mirror caps, and door handles like the WT, with deep-tinted glass.
- LT – Next up, we have the LT, which features 17-inch machined aluminum wheels and chrome front and rear bumpers. The LT has a chrome front grille bar with black inserts, plus black mirror caps and body-color door handles. With the LT, you also get an EZ lift and lower tailgate for improved functionality.
- LTZ – If you choose the 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD LTZ, then you get 18-inch machined aluminum wheels with silver-painted accents, along with chrome front and rear bumpers. The LTZ also has a chrome front grille bar with chrome grille inserts that really set it apart from the other trims. Chrome mirror caps and door handles complete the look.
- High Country – Finally, there’s the High Country, which features 20-inch polished aluminum wheels and body-color front and rear bumpers. A chrome front grille bar with chrome inserts and bronze accents creates a striking front end, paired with chrome mirror caps and door handles. The High Country has cargo bed LED lighting, factory-installed 6-inch chrome assist steps, and a spray-on bedliner.
As you can see, each trim really brings something different to the table when you’re looking at the 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. While a lot of these details are purely aesthetic, such as the different materials used on the front grille bar, the overall appearance from one model to another can be quite striking. Even when you look at the starting WT trim, however, the design is cohesive and looks great, which makes it clear that the designers at Chevrolet want the 2500HD to have a gorgeous appearance at every trim level.

There are a lot of packages available for the 2020 Chevy Silverado 2500HD, many of them are focused on interior features or towing power. Some do impact the exterior appearance, though this is usually done through additional features or functionality.
