Check Out the 2020 Chevy Traverse High Country
Since its introduction in 2008, the Chevrolet Traverse has been known as one of the premier full-sized SUVs and is perfect for Cincinnati drivers. From its spacious interior to its clean lines and almost endless versatility, the 2020 Chevy Traverse continues in the tradition of previous generations. There’s seating for up to eight passengers. A maximum cargo capacity of 98.2 cubic feet. The 2020 Traverse is even engineered to tow up to 5,000 pounds.
It’s an all-around useful vehicle for plenty of scenarios, from carpooling to school, taking the team out after the game, or joining the family through a summer road trip. For this model year, the Traverse is offered in seven trims: the L, LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and the top-of-the-line High Country. Each of these models comes very well equipped; in fact, the base L model includes 18-inch wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, WiFi, and a rearview camera. While each trim includes a suite of very impressive comfort, convenience, safety, and technology features, the High Country trim truly dominates with its offerings.
High Country Basics
The 2020 Chevy Traverse High Country includes seating for seven, with two ultra-comfortable front seats, two captain’s chairs in the second row, and a three passenger bench seat in the rear. The second-row seats will fold flat for cargo, and the passenger side seat offers easy-to-operate SmartSlide technology, which allows passengers to access to the third row at the pull of a lever. The third row also folds flat, with a 60/40 split. Drivers have the ability to create multiple configurations with seating, allowing bulky cargo and passengers to travel in harmony.
Under the hood, the Traverse is powered by a 3.6L V6 engine. Paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, this engine offers drivers 310 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque. Drivers will also appreciate the fuel economy of Traverse, regardless of whether they choose the front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive model. Equipped with Automatic Start/Stop technology, the engine will shut off during lengthy complete stops, then restart once the brake is released. As a result, the average fuel economy is approximately 18 miles per gallon on the city streets and 27 miles per gallon on the highway.
The High Country models sit high upon 20” polished aluminum wheels. Two premium exterior colors are also available for High Country, including a spicy Cajun Red Tintcoat and Iridescent Pearl Tintcoat.
Tons of Technology
Chevrolet is producing some very impressive technology, much of which is standard on the 2020 Traverse High Country.
On the exterior, LED headlamps with IntelliBeam will help you out on dark and curvy roads. The IntelliBeam technology monitors oncoming traffic and automatically dims high beams. The Hands Free Gesture liftgate assists from behind, allowing drivers with their hands full to open or close the liftgate with a foot placed under the bumper when the key fob is nearby.
Inside the cabin, Chevy’s innovation continues to shine. The entire interior is shrouded with Active Noise Cancellation, which dampens sound and vibrations, blocking exterior interferences.
The Bose premium ten-speaker sound system is perfect for listening to favorite tunes, which can be accessed via Bluetooth, USB or auxiliary plugs, or through SiriusXM Radio, including a trial subscription to 360L. This new service helps listeners discover new favorites by playing music based on preference.
Two USB ports are available in each row of seating, with a wireless charging pad as well. A 120V power outlet is also included so that High Country drivers are prepared for nearly every situation. A Universal Home Remote can be programmed with compatible devices, such as garage door openers and security systems, allowing you to activate and deactivate these services before you leave or start unpacking cargo from the rear of Traverse.
Those who plan to do extensive trailering will appreciate how well-equipped with High Country is. The included trailer hitch is paired with Hitch Guidance. This technology provides a camera view from the hitch, with trailer assist guidelines that help drivers hitch up without constantly readjusting. A heavy-duty cooling system is also installed to prevent overheating during long hauls. It may truly seem that Chevy has thought about everything ahead of time.
Comfort for All
Comfort is key for any driver, and the 2020 Chevy Traverse High Country is luxuriously appointed with options that will make road trips nearly blissful.
Tri-zone automatic climate control allows the driver to set their own temperature preferences, while the front passenger and rear passengers can control their own settings. Meanwhile, an interior humidity sensor ensures that windows don’t fog up when the cabin is full of sweaty passengers. Above, a panoramic sunroof allows fresh air and sunshine, or the chance to gaze on clear nights.
The driver and passenger seats are heated and ventilated, and the rear outboard passenger seats are also heated. Two driver memory settings are available for the 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, which also includes the steering wheel and outside mirrors, all of which can be power-adjusted to fit a variety of shapes and sizes, allowing all drivers to find their sweet spot… And keep it.
Serious About Safety
The High Country trim offers a very full suite of safety features and technology, helping drivers keep their attention on the road, and to avoid collisions in any direction.
The rear camera mirror allows drivers to choose between the standard interior view of the vehicle, or a wide view without all the distractions of the back seats interfering. HD Surround Vision compliments this view with a birdseye view of the vehicle, allowing the driver to spot surrounding objects and obstructions. Rear Park Assist alerts drivers when objects are detected nearby while traveling in reverse, while Rear Cross Traffic Alert lets drivers know when another vehicle or pedestrian is about to cross behind the vehicle while it’s in reverse.
Another host of safety features prevents forward collisions. An alert will sound when a potential forward collision is possible. The Following Distance Indicator will help maintain a safe space between vehicles, while Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking will gently slow the vehicle if a crash is imminent. Front Pedestrian Braking is able to detect pedestrians in the path of the vehicle at speeds up to 50 mph.
Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert notifies drivers when vehicles are in the least visible area surrounding the Traverse, allowing for safer lane changes. The Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning tracks lane markers and notifies drivers when they might be unintentionally straying from their lane.
The 2020 Chevrolet Traverse High Country trim includes almost everything, but a few packages are offered for those who need a little more. The “Hit the Road” Package adds cross rails to the roof racks to accommodate a great variety of cargo, while assist steps (in the same paint color as the body) help passengers climb into the front and back seats. A “Floor Liner” Package adds all-weather floor liners to all three rows and includes an integrated cargo bay liner, as well. A rear-seat entertainment system, which can include an optional DVD player, is also available, which might come in handy for long car rides with a fidgety crew.
For those who crave the versatility of being able to configure seven passengers, an abundance of cargo, or towing loads over a long distance, the Chevy Traverse meets the needs. For those who want a little something extra, such as intuitive technology, an abundance of comfort, and the latest in safety developments, the High Country trim is an obvious choice for all that it provides. And for those who still need more, High Country offers several optional packages that can help to make the driving experience simply exquisite.
