Chevrolet Donates Cars After Sandy
Super Storm Sandy left a lot of destruction in its wake when it ripped through the Northeast this past October. In addition to homes and property, over 250,000 automobiles were damaged by the storm. Many of these vehicles had too much damage to be repairable, and were destined for the crusher. Chevrolet had other ideas though. Let us here at McCluskey Chevrolet, your home for a cheap oil change, tell you what they did.
Chevy rounded up the damaged Chevrolet’s that were still somewhat in one piece, and donated the, to the Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. The Guardian Centers is a giant facility that trains first responders in disaster scenarios (much like Super Storm Sandy.) The facility is so large, they have a simulated city on their 800+ acre property just for these kind of scenarios. We here at your home of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala would love to see that sometime!
The vehicles are going to be used as props in the giant fake city. Actors and actresses can be placed inside with various fake injuries and the rescue trainees have to figure out the best way to get them out safely. It’s a cool program and we’re proud that Chevy thought to donate their otherwise useless destroyed cars!
