Fortunately, it looks like the success of the Volt is securing it a nice future, and we expect to see even more new and used models for a long time to come.

Chevrolet has given us reason to be excited about the future of the Volt. It gave Twitter a sneak peak at a new design for the 2016 model long before the full plans are expected to be unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show. The coy picture was just of the Volt’s front end, including a bit of the grille and one headlight.

Other details have slowly been leaking out about the 2016 Volt. We know that the new model is expected to have a longer electric range, thanks to a 20 percent increase in the battery’s storage capacity. Drivers should be able to get up to 1,000 miles before they have to stop for gas. The powertrain is expected to be 130 pounds lighter, making the car easier to handle.

Finally, the charging system is expected to be revamped, making it easier for owners to check the battery and to recharge it.

All of the changes are designed to help the Chevy Volt be a stronger contender against rivals like the Nissan Leaf and Toyota Prius.

Of course, we already think that the Volt is an exceptional car that offers dependable performance and a superior design. It is one of the most popular and affordable eco-friendly cars on the road.
