E-Titles in Ohio

June 21st, 2011 by

Titling vehicles in the state of Ohio has become easier and more convenient to all, over the years.  There was a time that all vehicles had to be titled in the county in which you lived.  Technology has been able to link together the counties allowing dealerships to be able to supply a title for the consumer quicker then ever before.  This also allows the consumer easier access to getting a copy if they have moved and lost their title.

Now we have e-titles. This produces a memorandum title to the consumer with no paper title to the lienholder, saving on time, getting the original title to the bank since it is a computer filed lien.  This also works in favor for the consumer or dealership that pays off the vehicle.  Once the lienholder has released the title online, within 2 days, a paper title can be picked up at any local Clerk of Courts office.

To see if you have a paper title coming to you or if it’s an e-titled vehicle, you can view your title infomration at any time online at https://www.dps.state.oh.us/atps/ to view this information, all you will need is the VIN# of the vehicle located in the front left bottom of the dashboard.
