Are ‘Green Tires’ the Next Big Thing?
You find yourself searching for cheap tires in Cincinnati. At the same time, you don’t want to give up anything in terms of quality just to save a few dollars.
While this may be a dilemma, there are solutions to consider. For example, there are affordable tires that still have a long life span; you just have to find them.
In the years to come, you may have even more choices. This is because “green” tires are gaining popularity.
According to Lanxess A.G., these tires can deliver fuel savings of up to seven percent in urban traffic. And as you know, saving money on the cost of fuel is something that most drivers are interested in.
In addition to improving fuel mileage, get this: the tires also reduced CO2 emissions when compared with traditional tires that are sold in countries throughout the world.
Thanks to the results of this test, one German based company, RheinEnergie, has opted to make a change. Its fleet, which consists of approximately 130 vehicles, will be fitted with green tires as needed.
The results of the test, which included six vehicles traveling nearly 23,000 miles, were astonishing. Tire Business broke down the findings:
“The results showed that the maximum fuel saving amounted to 6.96 percent and CO2 emissions dropped by up to 155 kilograms per 10,000 kilometers. Lanxess said the average of all vehicles was around 4 percent.”
This test may not have a widespread impact on the tire market just yet, but in the years to come there is a good chance that many companies and consumers will begin to consider this option.
If green tires prove to be more fuel efficient and less harmful to the environment, it is only natural that a larger audience will become interested in buying. This is particularly true if the cost of the tires is in line with what is currently on the market.
