The Latest on the New Chevy Silverado 1500-Series
Many truck enthusiasts have been awaiting the release of the much-anticipated 2016 Chevy Silverado HD. Whenever a car writer has passed along some new specs or features, the community has eaten up the reports, hungry for as much news as they can get.
Well luckily, we’ve got some more information regarding the rugged pickup truck, and this time, the news has to do with the vehicle’s unbelievable towing capacity. Before you head out to your local Chevy dealer in Ohio, see what’s in store for future Chevy trucks…
It was generally expected that the next Silverado 1500-series would differ from it’s predecessors based on the vehicle’s styling. However, as Noah Joseph of AutoBlog.com writes, that’s not entirely the case. Instead, there’s a variety of new “enhanced equipment” that’s been included in the Silverado HD.
It starts with the innovative Digital Steering Assist system, which helps provide an easier and safer towing experience. Furthermore, a brand new gooseneck/5th-wheel trailer prep package will allow the new heavy duty truck to tow a maximum of 23,200 pounds. That initial number will automatically place the Silverado on all top-10 lists of the best towing vehicles, regardless of the brand.
As Joseph notes, the 2016 1500 series will be available in a pair of versions (2500HD and 3500HD), with four available trim levels, three cab sizes, two cargo box lengths, and a variety of powertrain and drivetrain combinations. Furthermore, there will be plenty of special editions and packages, including the Z71 (best for off-roading) and a Custom Sport Edition (presenting a powerful vehicle with a “sleeker” design).
The Chevy Silverado is the second-best selling vehicle in the United States, and the number of units sold is only growing, as Douglas A. McIntyre of 247WallSt.com notes that sales have risen 16.6% through August (up to 387,179 vehicles purchased). As part of Chevy’s “Truck Month,” the brand has promised 0% APR financing for 60 months on the 2015 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. This isn’t an indication that the 2015 model has slacking sales or delivers disappointing performance. Rather, it shows that the brand is preparing for the 2016 model to take the industry by storm, and to anticipate these sales, Chevy is trying to push the previous year’s models.
Pretty exciting news, right? That added bit about the 0% financing for 2015 models should just be icing on the cake. There’s no doubt that that 2016 Silverado will be the best one yet, and the brand is calming our expectations by offering excellent deals on their current stock of models.
