McCluskey Chevrolet and Chevrolet Continue to Support Breast Cancer Fight

McCluskey Chevrolet and Cincinnati, Ohio area residents to help fight breast cancer this October.

Cincinnati, Ohio – October is breast cancer awareness month, Chevrolet and McCluskey Chevrolet are helping to educate people about breast cancer through a variety of events and fundraisers that will provide support for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. For the second October in a row, McCluskey Chevrolet, Chevrolet, and Cincinnati, Ohio customers are teaming up against a common enemy: breast cancer.

On October 13th at 9 am at Yeatman’s Cove, 705 E Pete Rose Way, Cincinnati, Ohio. Nearly 20 employees, friends, and family at McCluskey Chevrolet will join the American  Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. At this year’s walk, the dealership is helping to take a step in the right direction toward finding a cure for breast cancer.

“Breast cancer affects everyone in some way; either through our grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters or friends,” said Keith McCluskey, CEO of McCluskey Chevrolet. “That’s why we’re helping to make strides against breast cancer, hoping we can help in finding a cure for breast cancer.”

This year’s events take place primarily during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and include McCluskey Chevrolet employee and dealership-sponsored fund-raising walks, Chevrolet test drives, Chevrolet Certified Service rebate donations and matches, appearances by a themed pink Camaro, and other events.

Chevrolet and McCluskey Chevrolet hope to exceed the nearly $1.1 million raised by the American Cancer Society in 2011 through Chevrolet’s nationwide grassroots support for the society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks and other activities.

Nationwide on Oct. 6, Chevrolet will donate $10 to the American Cancer Society for every test drive taken at a Chevrolet dealer, including McCluskey Chevrolet up to a total of $130,000. EMBARGOED UNTIL OCT. 1

Even the all-new Chevrolet Spark minicar will join in the fight. A commemorative “Pink Out” Spark wears a production Techno Pink exterior finish and is embellished with custom elements inside and out. Designed to honor breast cancer survivors and their loved ones, it will visit selected walks throughout the month.

Last year with McCluskey Chevrolet customers and Chevrolet’s support, the American Cancer Society raised $1,079,633 in contributions The money raised helps fund research, wellness and breast cancer awareness education, and support for breast cancer patients and their families.

Here are the Chevrolet-sponsored activities planned in October in support of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer:

• Chevrolet and GM employee walks – All month, General Motors facilities, plants and warehouses across the country will participate in fund-raising walks; many plants and facilities compete with one another to raise the most money.

• Chevrolet dealership walks – Nearly 300 dealerships have already signed up to sponsor teams in community walks throughout October, with more expected to join. These walks alone accounted for more than half the money raised in 2011 that went to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.

• Chevrolet test drives – In addition to the Oct. 6 nationwide test drives, Chevrolet is donating $5 for every test drive at selected Southern Women’s Shows during the month of October.

• Chevrolet Racing – The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer-themed pink Camaro SS pace car will appear at NASCAR races in Dover (Sept. 28-30) and Talladega (Nov. 5-7), and the New York State Fair (Oct. 5-7). In September, Chevrolet donated $200 to the American Cancer Society for each of the 31 caution laps during the AdvoCare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, for a total of $6,200. • Chevrolet Certified Service – In October, customers who schedule qualifying services can donate part or all of their rebates and Chevrolet will match them, up to a total of $150,000. A $39.95 oil and filter change, tire rotation and 27-multi-point inspection is $29.95 after the $10 mail-in rebate. The $99.95 (per axle) ACDelco Durastop Ceramic Brake Pads service is $74.95 after the $25 mail-in rebate.

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a non-competitive, inspirational event that raises awareness and funds to make strides to end breast cancer by finding cures and supporting programs and services for all people facing the disease.

Funds raised through Making Strides will help the American Cancer Society save lives by helping people stay well by taking steps to reduce breast cancer risk or find it early; helping people get well by providing information and support during and after a breast cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking breast cancer research; and by fighting back and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight.
