McCluskey Chevrolet’s Parts Department gets ready for the Volt
This Cincinnati 2011 Chevy Volt is a unique vehicle with two different voltage systems. A High Voltage system which drives the vehicle. A Low Voltage system to power its electric system. The major component of the Volt is its High voltage battery. The battery unlike most batteries we are familiar with is not cylindrical or rectangular. The Volt battery is T-shaped and weighs approximately 450 pounds. The battery works best in a temperature controlled environment. The battery maintains a constant temperature by being liquid heated and/or cooled. The battery has an eight year/100,000 mile warranty. Due to the battery’s weight, shape and size special handling is required. A pallet jack is recommended and only trained technicians should handle, remove or replace the battery.
