New Chevrolet Corvette Reaches Top Speeds in Under 3 Seconds

October 15th, 2014 by

As one of the top used car dealerships in Cincinnati, McCluskey Chevrolet sells quality previously owned Chevrolet Corvettes that still boast a lot of power and performance. You can pick up a piece of history and save a lot of money in the process.

If you’re a collector or you’re just ready to have the newest model, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 offers something promising. General Motors performed its internal testing and revealed that the latest in the Corvette family can hit

60 mph in just 2.95 seconds. That performance ranks the Z06 in the “supercar” category.

At that speed, the Corvette Z06 can hit a quarter mile in just 10.95 seconds. However, to get that performance, you’ll have to invest in the Z07 Performance Package, which includes a paddle shift eight-speed automatic transmission, aerodynamics, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and ceramic brake rotors. The same package with a seven-speed manual transmission can reach 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and get to a quarter mile in 11.2 seconds.

After hitting 60 mph, it will take you only 99.6 feet to come to a complete stop after braking. That’s the shortest distance for any production car that GM has tested.

Other features for the new Corvette include a trap speed of 127 mph (regardless of transmission), a 6.2-liter LT4 V-8 engine, and a Magnetic Ride Control suspension. The engine gets 650 horse power and 650 lb-ft of torque.

The speed performance ranks the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 among the ranks of the Nissan GT-R, Porsche 911 Turbo S and Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Black Series.

The Z06 will cost $78,995 for the base model or $83,995 for the convertible. It will go on sale in early 2015. However, the convertible will not be available until the second quarter.

The news about the Corvette Z06 is exciting, but it’s just more of the same from Chevy, which has an impressive history for performance and value. If the new Z06 isn’t in your budget, or you just can’t wait that long to buy a car, you should stop by McCluskey Chevrolet, one of the top used car dealerships in Cincinnati, to look at an older Corvette model. We have an impressive selection at some of the best prices.
