A good deal is undeniable. With the current economy the way it is, along with an increased cost of living, it’s no wonder that finding a good deal can make or break a persons day. Whether it involves finding a cheap oil change or hunting for the gas station with the cheapest fuel, good deal potentials are all around us. Gas prices are unpredictable, and there seems to be no rhyme or reason when it comes to prices at the pump. While we certainly have no control over the cost of gas, we can control how often we may need to fill up – with the help of new technology and better MPGs.

The next-generation Chevrolet Volt is still three to four years away from becoming available in U.S. markets, but with its potential for bringing record-breaking fuel economy along with it, waiting will be well worth it. Dan Akerson is the CEO of General Motors, and has recently been leaking information about Chevrolet’s newest version of the electric-gas car to Bloomberg. According to Akerson, the next-generation Volt will impress with a significant increase in its electric-only range, which is rumored to reach 50-60 miles – and possibly even more. This is impressive considering that recent research shows that 80% of U.S. drivers travel less than 40 miles per day.

If the mere idea of not using gas for possibly weeks on end (which also equates to no pricey fill-ups at the pump) isn’t enough to get you excited about the next-generation Volt, Akerson also confirmed that the car could cost $7,000-$10,000 less than this years model, which before government incentives starts at $39,145.
