As more and more car manufacturers explore the power of the battery electric vehicle (BEV), the lure to consider one as your everyday driving vehicle gets stronger as well. After all, who wouldn’t enjoy the extended driving range, the latest technological advancement, and that feel-good vibe you get when you know you’re doing something good for the planet? At McCluskey Chevrolet, we’re excited to show off Chevrolet’s newest addition to the BEV segment, the Chevy Blazer EV, for sale.

You can see the Blazer EV up close when you stop by our dealership and talk with a member of our team. Additionally, we can answer any questions you might have about this electric SUV and explore its trim levels and package options that allow you to customize it to your needs. Of course, we know you might also be wondering about the other electric SUVs that have debuted recently, including the Honda Prologue; the good news is that we’ve done some of the homework for you, and the following is an in-depth look at the Chevy Blazer EV versus the Honda Prologue.

Performance

One of the main reasons you might shy away from EVs is that you’re unsure how they’ll perform when you need them most. This is a common concern that is quickly remedied when you learn a bit more about battery electric vehicles. First, BEVs have instant torque. What that means is that, the minute you let off the pedal, you’re on your way. Not only that, but the Chevrolet Blazer EV boasts a powerful 340-hp electric generator in RWD; meanwhile, AWD models can produce up to 557 hp with two generators in the high-performance SS trim, as well as the ability to go from zero to sixty in under four seconds.

For the Honda Prologue, you’ll also enjoy instant torque, but this EV falls far short in terms of horsepower, only providing you with 288 hp when choosing the dual-motor, all-wheel drive version. This massive decrease in horsepower also means slower acceleration than the Blazer EV.

Electric Range

One of the reasons many drivers are strongly considering an EV is the ability to go further than ever before. When selecting the AWD Blazer EV, you will be rewarded with an estimated range of up to 283 miles on a full charge, decreasing the need for recharging stops and improving long-distance driving convenience. When choosing the RS trim in RWD, you’ll enjoy an even longer range of 324 miles. Also, when activated, Regen on Demand and One Pedal Driving help convert expended energy into charge for later use, which allows you to get the most out of your range.

When compared to the AWD Blazer EV, the Prologue comes out slightly ahead, with a range of 296 miles. However, when you explore how that range shifts depending on who’s behind the wheel, as well as weather and road conditions, it’s likely that the range part of the comparison is a draw. Also, the range for the Prologue drops below the Blazer EV’s when choosing the rear-wheel drive version—the same version that offers less horsepower, as mentioned above.

Charging Speeds

A big consideration when choosing an EV is how fast it charges. For the Blazer EV, Chevrolet states it will charge at a rate of 190 kWh, which adds just under 80 miles of range in ten minutes. On the other hand, the Prologue’s maximum charge rate is 155 kWh, which adds up to about 65 miles in ten minutes. These numbers are for DC Fast-Charging at one of many public charging stations, but both SUV EVs can be charged at home with the appropriate equipment. For convenience, you can create a charge schedule for your Blazer EV in the myChevrolet app and get real-time status and range information.

Tech & Features

This is a big category and is often the one that pushes drivers from one vehicle to the next. This makes sense since many drivers spend a good portion of their day in their vehicles. When exploring what the Blazer EV and Prologue offer, you’ll find that the Blazer EV is equipped with a state-of-the-art infotainment system, including a large touchscreen display and advanced driver assistance features. The Blazer EV also offers a head-up display and a high-resolution rearview camera.

The Prologue has a competitive infotainment system but lacks some of the advanced features found in the Blazer EV, such as the head-up display and higher-resolution camera options. Additionally, the Prologue’s touchscreen is 11.3 inches, while the Blazer EV’s display screen is 17.7 inches, in addition to an 11-inch driver information screen. We know what you’re thinking: that’s a lot of screen space. The result is a futuristic, sleek dash that puts everything you need at your fingertips. That accessibility is another perk the Blazer EV has over the Prologue, as the infotainment display on the Blazer is situated in a way that tilts toward the driver, making it easier to select the features you want.

Another difference between the Honda Prologue and the Chevy Blazer EV—which might be the most significant one yet—is that the Blazer EV offers a hands-free driving tool in the available Super Cruise for the 2LT AWD and RS AWD trim levels. When driving long distances, the addition of Super Cruise allows you to enjoy the drive more and arrive at your destination refreshed and ready to go.

Cabin Space

One reason drivers choose an SUV is the room it offers for both passengers and cargo. For that reason, comparing the Prologue and Blazer EV is essential. For the Prologue, you’ll find front and rear legroom measuring at 41.4 inches and 39.4 inches, respectively. On the other side, the Blazer EV offers 44.2 inches of front legroom and 38.9 inches of second-row legroom. For cargo space, the Blazer EV lets you buy a few more things, allowing up to 59.1 cu.ft., while the Prologue offers 57.7 cu.ft. when the second rows are folded down. With the second row up, both SUV EVs are within an inch of each other, with the Blazer EV coming in at 25.5 cu.ft. and the Prologue offering 25.2 cu.ft.
