This is a question we’re asked pretty often by people who are curious about the Silverado EV or are first starting to check it out and wondering what it has to offer. We’ll admit that, not too long ago, the very idea of an all-electric pickup would’ve been ridiculous, and you’d expect to see something with anemic capabilities and an abysmal range.

Looking at the 2025 Chevy Silverado EV, however, it’s clear that we’ve come a long way since then, thanks in large part to GM developing its Ultium battery platform for powerful and incredibly capable EVs. So, what is it about this truck that has a lot of people excited about it? Let’s take a closer look at what it has to offer, and you’ll quickly understand.

Incredible All-Electric Performance

When you’re looking at any full-size truck, no matter how it’s powered, the performance it delivers should always be one of the first things you check out. You want to see that it has enough muscle to be enjoyable to drive and that it can help you tackle a wide range of tasks. As you likely know, the Silverado EV has battery-powered motors rather than a conventional internal combustion engine. Every Silverado EV has a pair of motors—one on the front axle and one on the rear—for an electrified all-wheel drive that ensures you have a great time on the road each day.

With that in mind, you still have two different batteries to choose from with this truck, and your choice impacts performance, capabilities, and driving range. In terms of power, the standard Extended Range battery and dual-motor configuration delivers 645 hp and up to 785 lb-ft of torque in Wide Open Watts mode with the RST trim. Going with the Max Range battery and dual-motor setup, you’ll enjoy 760 hp and 785 lb-ft of torque in Wide Open Watts mode, providing you with incredible power. Think of Wide Open Watts like electric launch control, giving you a boost of performance for incredible acceleration; this is what lets the Silverado EV go from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds.

Robust, Full-Size Capabilities

That impressive performance is excellent and certainly makes the Silverado EV fun to drive each day, but we all know that trucks need to do more than just get up to speed quickly. It’s perhaps more important that they can also help you get some serious work done. Fortunately, the 2025 Silverado EV is remarkably capable—but keep in mind that the battery, trim, and other options will impact capabilities just like with any other truck.

That being said, when properly equipped, the Silverado EV can handle 12,500 lbs of maximum towing along with up to 1,800 lbs of max payload capacity. Helping you make the most of this are unique design elements like the Multi-Flex Midgate with pass-through that lets you fit items more than 10 feet in length safely into the bed of this truck. You also get a front trunk (the eTrunk, since there’s no engine) that provides you with 10.7 cu.ft. of additional storage space.

Electric Range and Easy Charging

One detail that many drivers are concerned about when it comes to EVs is the kind of range you get and how easy they are to recharge. This is perfectly understandable since older EVs were often bogged down by poor driving range that made them impractical for daily use, especially when considering something like a truck. That’s not a problem here, however, because the 2025 Silverado EV offers a fantastic range and is incredibly easy to charge. For starters, the Extended Range battery with the LT trim gets an estimated 408 miles of range from a full charge, or with the RST trim, it gets an estimated 390 miles of range.

If you’re looking for the best range available for the 2025 Silverado EV, however, then you want to check out the Max Range battery, offered with the RST trim, which gets a GM-estimated 460 miles of range from a full charge. This is a fantastic maximum range that’s ideal for your daily routine, enjoying time off, and heading out on a long road trip. Chevy has made sure the Silverado EV is easy to charge. You can charge at home with support for Level 1 and Level 2 charging. Even better, there are more than 250,000 public charging stations available across the country that you can utilize, getting a GM-estimated 100 miles of range from just a 10-minute charge at a 350-kW DC Fast Charging station.

Remarkable Tech and Comfort

So, with plenty of muscle to help you get your job done, what kind of driving experience can you expect? The answer: one of the finest, most innovative drives with a cabin beyond much of what we’ve seen recently. Looking at the basic LT trim, you get a stunning 17.7-inch advanced color touchscreen with Google Built-In, providing you with everything you need while on the road. This is joined by an 11-inch Driver Information Center screen for you to use, a seven-speaker Bose Premium sound system, 12-way power-adjustable front seats that are heated and ventilated, and a wireless charging pad.

Available options, such as what you’ll find with the upgraded RST trim, include a 14-inch multicolor head-up display that projects information onto the windshield to keep it near your line of sight; this makes it easy to keep track of your speed, navigation information, and other important data while keeping your attention focused on the road. That Multi-Flex Midgate we mentioned a moment ago is included with the RST, plus you get ambient interior lighting and more remarkable features. You can even get an available Multi-Flex audio system by Kicker that adds speakers to the tailgate for terrific audio anywhere you go.

Next-Level Driver Assistance

We all know how important it is to be able to work with your truck, but nothing else matters if your pickup doesn’t help keep you safe on the road. It’s clear that Chevy understands this when you look at the 2025 Silverado EV and its remarkable driver assistance technology. The LT trim has an impressive suite with a Forward Collision Alert, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Intersection Braking, Reverse Automatic Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, and Enhanced Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning.

Front and Rear Park Assist are included for the LT, along with Blind Zone Steering Assist and an HD Surround Vision system that gives you multiple views around your vehicle to help you avoid objects while maneuvering. To take things even further, the RST includes GM’s innovative Super Cruise hands-free driving system that’s compatible with a huge network of roads across the US and Canada. Super Cruise even includes Trailering support that can accommodate the added weight of anything you’re towing, which you won’t find on any other hands-free driving system right now.
