What’s New for the Chevy SUV Lineup?

Back in the ’60s, the Shangri-La’s had a big hit song called Leader of the Pack. It was one of those early ’60s songs about star-crossed lovers, with the singer falling in love with an ill-fated motorcycle rider who was rejected by her parents. He was called Leader of the Pack because he was the top dog among bikers in the song’s town.
If you are looking at SUV brands, you could say that Chevrolet is the Leader of the Pack, offering more different SUV models than any other brand. This is without the negative connotations of the ’60s song, as there is nothing in a Chevy SUV that wouldn’t meet with approval from your parents or other loved ones. From their affordable price to their reputation for safety and dependability, Chevy SUVs give you all you are looking for in this kind of model. This is why you need to head over to McCluskey Chevrolet, your Chevy SUV dealer, to see all that is in store for you with the 2023 Chevy SUV lineup.
Like most automakers, Chevy makes a number of updates and improvements to each of its models. This is certainly true of the Chevy SUV lineup, with seven different models to choose from. For 2023, Chevy has made some changes to each of its models, some more extensive than others, but each one goes a long way to offering more for you when you choose a Chevy SUV.
The Chevy Trax
One of two subcompact SUVs in the Chevy lineup, the Trax might seem an odd choice to mention first when discussing changes for 2023. This is because Chevy is not offering a 2023 Trax model. Rather, the company has decided to put a halt to production of the Trax for this model year, with an eye toward the introduction of a radically new Trax model for 2024. The 2024 Trax promises to have a new look that is more akin to the other models in the Chevy SUV lineup, like the Equinox and Blazer. Chevy has increased the wheelbase on the Trax while also lowering its roof. This gives it a more aggressive, aerodynamic profile, with a larger interior for more room for you and your passengers.
The other big change for the 2024 Trax will be a new 1.2-liter Turbo I-3 gas engine. This replaces the 1.4-liter EcoTec Turbo I-4 on the 2022 model. This smaller engine will have a lower output than the prior model’s engine, going from 155 horsepower to 137 horsepower. However, it should not affect performance, while at the same time improving fuel economy on the Trax. Chevy plans to offer the 2024 Trax in five different trim levels, three more than on last year’s model.
The Chevy Trailblazer
One of the most unique subcompact SUVs on the market is the Chevy Trailblazer. In a field with so many cookie-cutter small SUVs, it is great to see Chevy taking a departure with the adventurous-looking Trailblazer. This model gains its name from models with all-wheel drive that promise some improved performance on unpaved road surfaces. The looks are also enhanced if you choose a model with the two-tone exterior paint job.
Chevy has added three new exterior paint colors to the 2023 Trailblazer. You can now choose from Nitro Yellow Metallic, Fountain Blue, and Sterling Grey, in addition to the Summit White, Mosaic Black Metallic, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Vivid Orange Metallic, and Blue Glow Metallic. Depending on which trim level you choose, you can get your Trailblazer with a contrasting Summit White roof.
The Chevy Equinox
The compact Equinox has undergone almost as many improvements for 2023 as the Trax. However, unlike the Trax, Chevy didn’t skip a model year in the legacy of the Equinox. The 2023 Equinox features an engine boost over the prior year’s model. While the standard engine itself remains a 1.5-liter Turbo I-4, it sees its output go from 170 horsepower to 175 horsepower. This should give you a bit more responsiveness when you step on the accelerator. While there was no change in the fuel economy for front-wheel drive Equinox models, the fuel economy on all-wheel drive models dipped slightly from 25 miles per gallon to 24 miles per gallon in the city.
The other major performance change on the 2023 Equinox involves the brakes. Chevy has gone from a conventional vacuum-based brake system on the Equinox to an electronically assisted brake system. This is called the E-boost and should provide better responsiveness and shorter braking distance on the 2023 Equinox than on prior models. The final change for 2023 is that you can now get the popular Sport and Midnight appearance packages on the entry-level Equinox LS trim. This gives you more options and choices when buying an Equinox.
The Chevy Blazer
Already one of the most stylish midsize SUVs on the road, the 2023 Blazer has been given a new exterior look and interior styling that is truly exceptional. The new looks on the Blazer were inspired by one of Chevy’s most iconic cars, the Camaro. Just like the famous muscle car, the 2023 Blazer is sleek and chiseled yet uniquely refined. The interior has also been improved with more seating and cargo space.
The other major change on the 2023 Blazer is the introduction of a standard 10.2-inch touchscreen for the Chevrolet Infotainment system. This is one of the largest standard touchscreen sizes on any midsize SUV, and it signals Chevy’s commitment to pushing more technological improvements in its vehicles. As it is, Chevy has always been a leader in this area, with the Chevrolet Infotainment system setting many trends in features, layout, and styling. With the 2023 Blazer, Chevy is truly turning up the heat on its competition.

The Chevy Traverse
The Traverse has quickly become the midsize SUV of choice for many suburban family drivers. This is because the Traverse offers three rows of seats for up to eight passengers at an affordable price. It is also easy to handle, so drivers will find parallel parking not too difficult. For 2023, Chevy added two new exterior color choices on the Traverse. Sterling Grey Metallic and Radiant Red Tintcoat join Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Summit White, Mosaic Black Metallic, and Black Cherry Metallic as options. In addition, Chevy now offers the Traverse LT with a wrapped steering wheel that is more comfortable, especially on long drives.
The Chevy Tahoe
One of two full-size Chevy SUVs, the Tahoe has incredible amounts of interior space and a choice of three powerful engines. Drivers can now get a boost on their 2023 Tahoe if they choose the available 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8. This engine offers an output of 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, just like the 2022 model. However, you can also now opt for this engine with an increased output of 433 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque. This will give you optimized performance.
Chevy also now offers Super Cruise on the Tahoe. This is Chevy’s semi-autonomous self-driving system. There are a number of Super Cruise roads that are in the database of the Tahoe’s navigation system. When you enter one of these roads, you can have the Super Cruise take over the steering, brakes, and accelerator. This can help reduce driver fatigue. However, you should continue to pay attention to the road to take evasive action in the unlikely event you have to override the system. Super Cruise will be initially available on the High Country and Premier trims of the 2023 Tahoe.
The Chevy Suburban
The longest continuously built model in Chevy’s lineup, the Suburban was first introduced to drivers in 1935. Since that time, the Suburban has gone on to be one of the leading super-sized SUVs. Like the Tahoe, the Suburban offers drivers three rows of seats for up to eight passengers, with more interior passenger space than most other full-size SUVs. In addition, with a longer wheelbase than the Tahoe, the Suburban gives you a massive amount of cargo space. This is the case even if you need to use all three rows of seats, as the Suburban’s trunk holds an amazing 41.5 cubic feet of space for your belongings. The 2023 Chevy Suburban offers the all-new Super Cruise feature as optional equipment on Premier and High Country models. This will allow you to engage in semi-autonomous driving on specially mapped highways across America.

Seven Chevy SUVs to Choose From
Chevy gives you some incredible options for 2023, with six of the seven Chevy models available this year. Waiting in the wings is the 2024 Chevy Trax, which promises a new direction for this Chevy model. Also, with features like available Super Cruise on the Tahoe and Suburban, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen on the Chevrolet Infotainment system for the Blazer, Chevy is signaling where it is headed in a future of technological advances for performance, safety, and entertainment on its diverse lineup of SUVs. Come in today and drive out with the 2023 Chevy SUV that suits your lifestyle the best.
