While it features the same displacement and turbocharger as the base engine, the TurboMax is tuned to provide a considerable boost in performance with 310 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque on tap. Those numbers put the Colorado right at the top of the midsize segment, allowing the pickup to outshine V6 offerings from many of its competitors including the Toyota Tacoma and Honda Ridgeline.

The Trail Boss

The Trail Boss opens the door to true off-road performance with a robust array of trail-ready upgrades that’ll have you itching to explore the road less traveled. The trim comes standard with a two-inch factory lift that gives the Colorado 9.5 inches of total ground clearance. That sort of height will surely come in handy when you’re trying to dodge logs, rocks, and other obstacles inherent to off-road driving, but it’s not the only enhancement in store when it comes to the Trail Boss. 

Chevy has also designed the trim with 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires and fender flares that will help to protect the Colorado’s paint and body from flying rocks, vegetation, and other debris that you might kick up as you speed through your local off-road trails. The Trail Boss trim is also packed with a host of components designed to improve your chances of off-road success, from a two-speed transfer case to an automatic locking rear differential that drastically improves traction by forcing the rear wheels to turn at the same rate. HDC gives you one less thing to worry about by automatically engaging the truck’s anti-lock braking and traction control systems to seamlessly adjust its speed and braking. The Z71

The Z71 provides a superb mix of performance and luxury that few midsize models can match. While the trim is packed with many of the same hardy off-road features you’ll find on the Trail Boss, it also provides an extra touch of class with the addition of heated and power-adjustable exterior mirrors, synthetic leather seating, keyless entry and ignition, and a striking design that immediately sets it apart from the rest of the lineup. The ZR2

The ZR2 represents the Colorado at its most rugged. The range-topping trim takes everything there is to love about the Trail Boss and Z71 and kicks it up a notch with the addition of some professional-grade off-road tech. In addition to DSSV, the ZR2 is also packed with driver-selectable front and rear locking differentials, rocker-panel rails, a spray-in bedliner, Chevy’s Advanced Trailering Package, advanced suspension components, and a three-inch factory lift. 

The ZR2 Convenience III Package and Recovery Package are both worth a closer look with the latter even including a winch and off-road recovery kit, but the exclusive ZR2 Bison Edition Package is easily the most enticing add-on. Created in partnership with the off-road and overlanding experts at American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), the Bison Edition Package includes an arsenal of industrial-strength components that can withstand the rigors of off-road driving. 

AEV stamped-steel front and rear bumpers with integrated recovery points and a winch mount give you the ability to free yourself from a sticky situation while the five undercarriage skid plates protect the ZR2 from any bumps and bruises you might incur on your next off-road adventure. The Bison Edition Package also features 35-inch mud-terrain tires, 17-inch AEV wheels, and a bed-mounted vertical spare tire mount with full-size spare tire. 

Equipment Packages
