10 Cars with the Best Resale Value for 2016

December 20th, 2015 by

Whenever you head to a dealership like Kings Automall in Mason, Ohio to purchase a car, it is important to have an idea of what you are looking for. Buying a car that has a good reputation for resale value, is always a smart choice. By choosing to purchase a vehicle that has been established for holding its value, you are ensuring that when it comes time to sell your vehicle, you will get the most money possible.

Most consumers are not concerned about how much they will eventually get for their vehicle, when they go to initially purchase it. Not accounting for the future resale value of a new car, can prove to be a problem in the future. Resale value should be considered just as much as the sticker price of a new car – because knowing that your vehicle will hold its value long term, is incredibly valuable information.

Kelley Blue Book Announces ‘Best Resale Value’ Award Winners

Trying to find a car with a good resale value is almost impossible to do on your own. Thankfully, there are automotive industry experts who conduct research to help conclude which vehicles offer the best resale value, that they then share with the public. Kelley Blue Book is an organization that compiles this information, and every year they release the winners for their “Best Resale Value Awards.”

Toyota was the most awarded vehicle brand in this list, with four models appearing in the top ten list alone. What it Means for a Car to Offer Good Resale Value

Cars are not well known for keeping their value over a long period of time. The “investment” of a new car is almost always met with the notion that a vehicle loses its value as soon as it leaves the dealership lot. While this is true to a point, it is important to note that some vehicles hold their value better than others.

The top ten models on Kelley Blue Book’s list of Best Resale Value Awards, are expected to retain nearly 55% of their original sticker price after the first five years of ownership. This average percentage only accounts for “typical” vehicle ownership, and does not include vehicles that are excessively driven under adverse conditions.

Kelley Blue Book does not arrive at these statistics or compile their list of vehicle models by accident. Their research team carefully analyzes industry trends, vehicle data, market conditions, and sales data. Expectations for the future economy, and competition within vehicle segments are also taken into consideration. The past projections made by Kelley Blue Book regarding resale values have been extraordinarily accurate, which is why it is important to consider what they have to say prior to making a vehicle purchase.

If you end up with a vehicle on the top ten list of the Best Resale Value awards by Kelley Blue Book, you can rest assured knowing that your vehicle will get you the most money back down the road.
