10 Things That Make the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer Great
After more than a decade out of the spotlight, the Chevy Trailblazer has returned and offers a bold new choice in the lineup of Chevy SUVs. The 2021 Trailblazer is entirely a brand-new offering that provides another option for you if you’re interested in a small crossover SUV. And, as you might expect, here at McCluskey Chevrolet, we’re pretty excited about the Trailblazer and everything it has to offer, both in general and specifically for our customers.
Today, we thought it would be fun to do a quick rundown of the Trailblazer and see what it has to offer among the other Chevy SUVs. This certainly won’t be a comprehensive list of every fantastic feature and option this all-new SUV has to offer, but we’ll hit some of our favorite ones. If you’re looking for a small SUV and you’re not sure if the Trailblazer is right for you, then maybe this will give you a few hints and point you in the right direction.
#10 – The Available All-Wheel Drive
To kick things off, let’s talk about the available all-wheel drive on the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. While all-wheel drive might not be completely unique among the Chevy SUVs that are available, it’s a welcome addition for the Trailblazer that really lets it establish itself as highly functional and stylish. Not only does it make the Trailblazer a great choice if you encounter a lot of rough terrains – such as when going camping, hiking, or just dealing with snow in the winter – but it also changes the transmission.
Trailblazer models with the standard front-wheel drive have a continuously variable transmission, while the all-wheel drive models feature a 9-speed automatic instead. So, all-wheel drive in the Trailblazer will get you some better traction, and the 9-speed transmission will provide you with a smooth drive. We know this might not be a make-or-break point for everyone, but it’s a great option that deserves recognition.
#9 – The Available 1.3L Turbo Engine
While the standard 1.2L engine on the Trailblazer is certainly satisfactory and makes it a lot of fun to drive, if you want a more invigorating experience behind the wheel, then the available engine is definitely the way to go. It’s a 1.3L Turbo engine that delivers up to 155 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque that really makes for a fun ride. Best of all, this engine is offered as an option for one trim and comes standard on two others, so it’s easy to get on the Trailblazer of your choice.
#8 – The 1,000 lbs of Towing Available
Along with that more powerful 1.3L Turbo engine comes an impressive towing capacity for such a small crossover SUV. While this might not compete with a large SUV or a full-size pickup truck, having up to 1,000 lbs of towing capacity available can certainly make a difference. If you have a small cargo trailer or camper you need to be able to haul behind you, or even a light boat, then the Trailblazer can be a great choice among the lineup of Chevy SUVs.
#7 – The More than 54 cu.ft. of Interior Cargo Space
Speaking of cargo, despite its small size, the Trailblazer gives you a tremendous amount of usable interior cargo space. Behind the second row of seats, you get just over 25 cu.ft. of cargo volume, and with the second row lowered, you get 54.4 cu.ft. of total cargo volume inside the Trailblazer. Plus, with the second-row seats and the front passenger seat lowered, you can get more than 8 feet of cargo length to use, which means even long items like a kayak or paddleboard can fit into the Trailblazer with ease.
#6 – The Standard Chevy Safety Assist Package
The 2021 Trailblazer has one of the best sets of standard safety features we’ve ever seen among any Chevy SUVs. It comes with the Chevy Safety Assist Package, standard on all models, which includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, and signature LED daytime running lamps. The Trailblazer also has a comprehensive airbag system with 10 airbags, along with lane keep assist with a lane departure warning, a following distance indicator, and a forward collision alert.
#5 – The Additional Safety Options
Of course, if you want to take your vehicle’s safety even further, there are a number of excellent features also available. These include an upgraded HD rear vision camera, a lane change alert with a side blind zone alert, and both rear park assist and a rear cross traffic alert. As you can see, the standard safety features on the Trailblazer are really amazing, and the ability to take them even further is something we love.
#4 – The Luxurious Available Seating
Chevy SUVs are well known for their sophisticated, comfortable interiors, and the all-new Trailblazer is certainly no exception. While the interior options will depend on the trim you choose, of course, the available seating is incredibly comfortable and luxurious. The RS trim, for example, features heated driver and front-passenger seats, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, and cloth seating with leatherette trim. Leather details on the steering wheel and shift knob complete the luxurious feel throughout the interior.
#3 – The Bose Premium Sound System
While a 4-speaker audio system is standard on the starting L trim, higher trims feature a 6-speaker sound system. However, if you truly want a captivating experience, we suggest checking out the available 7-speaker Bose premium audio system. This setup creates a rich, concert-like experience that fills the interior cabin and truly envelopes you with sound. If you love going for a drive while listening to music, then this is a clear choice.
#2 – The Adventurous ACTIV Trim
One of our favorite things about the all-new Trailblazer is that it offers a new option for going off-road within the lineup of Chevy SUVs. While the all-wheel drive system is available on every trim, so you can get outstanding performance and traction, the ACTIV trim is definitely the way to go if you want to hit the trail in your Trailblazer. It comes with the 1.3L Turbo engine standard, with all-wheel drive available for a powerful and rewarding driving experience.
The ACTIV features a dual-outlet exhaust and a skid plate to protect the underbody of the Trailblazer, keeping the mechanical systems safe from rocks and other objects on the trail. While 16-inch wheels come standard on the Trailblazer, the ACTIV trim features 17-inch wheels instead, with 17-inch sport terrain tires designed to keep you in control off-road. Standard LED fog lamps and tail lamps, with LED headlamps available, ensure you can see and be seen in even the roughest conditions.
#1 – The Incredible Low Price
The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer starts at an MSRP of just $19,000, lower even than the Trax, making it the most affordable Chevy SUV available. With so much to offer at such an incredible price, it’s easy to see why we’re so excited about this vehicle and all of the fun performance and great features it has to offer. SUVs are a terrific choice for a lot of people, but midsize and full-size models don’t necessarily fit into every lifestyle, so small, affordable models like the Trailblazer can be the perfect option.
