2014 Chevrolet Silverado is awarded 5 star safety rating from the NHTSA
One of the most important factors when buying a new vehicle is safety. The question of whether safety is important or not to consumers is a foolish one to ask – whether you are a bachelor looking for a sleek sport scar, or a mom looking for an SUV that will fit six kids, safety is always an element that is considered. Cars and SUVs have long been the stars of high safety ratings, and up until now, pickup trucks have rarely been recognized for high safety features. As a matter of fact, since the National Highway Safety Administration implemented a stricter New Car Assessment Program in 2011, no pickup has ever received the highest possible score of five…until now. Car dealerships throughout the country are proud to offer the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, now ranked one of the safest pickup trucks on the road today.
The parent company of Chevrolet, GM, was awarded the highest five-star rating for the GMC Sierra as well as the Silverado. Gay Kent is the general director of vehicle safety and crashworthiness at General Motors, and she says that, “Silverado and Sierra set a benchmark for pickup truck safety by offering a full array of advanced features designed to protect occupants before, during and after a collision.” Kent also notes that safety is just as important to pickup truck drivers as it is to car buyers. The five star safety rating from the NHTSA for the 2014 Silverado follows the first redesign of the truck in seven years. The new safety features include fully boxed frames, high strength steel, and safety technology such as lane departure warning, collision alert, and back-up cameras.
So if you are looking for a full-size pickup that packs as much safety as it does punch, look no further than the Chevrolet Silverado.
