Girl Scouts Get Swindled

Of all the groups in the world, you would think that the Girl Scouts would be among the least hassled. After all, they’re just a bunch of nice little kids, learning valuable skills and selling their terribly delicious cookies. Who would want to prank them? Well, let us here at McCluskey Chevrolet, your Cincinnati used car dealers, tell you.

In Oregon, two troops got a huge order in from a corporation. It was 6,000 boxes of cookies, a value of about $24,000! The only problem is that after they ordered the cookies, the company couldn’t be reached for payment. When they finally DID get someone on the phone, the company had no idea what they were talking about. We here at your home for a cheap oil change can’t imagine how frustrating that must have been.

Still, the girls didn’t give up. They got together with the local news affiliate and had a MASSIVE cookie sale. The community felt bad that someone had pranked them and turned up in droves. By the end of the day, the girls had sold about 3,000 boxes of cookies. They’re planning on having another sale later this month to move the rest.

“For every one person that has bad intentions, there are hundreds more with good intentions and good hearts that are here to help you,” said Sarah Miller, director of communication for Girls Scouts of Oregon and Washington.
