It’s Finally Here!

Many people think that the new mid-engine Corvette is a new idea for Chevy, a last-minute decision if you will. If you thought this, you’d be dead wrong. Matter of fact, Chevy had the idea of making the beast mid-engine for a long time. The 1959 Chevy CERV was actually Chevy’s first prototype to include a mid-engine design. In subsequent years to follow Chevy has produced many different mid-engine prototypes on many different Corvettes, all of them were brought back to the drawing board. But now, nearly 60 years after the first mid-engine prototype, we get the release of the mid-engine Corvette. Looking more like an exotic supercar than American muscle, this new Corvette is getting a lot of attention! Rightly so, as this Vette has awesome power figures, along with many performance upgrades that are sure to dominate the track. Paired with the 2020 Chevy Corvette’s accessories, this is one incredible car.

The new Corvette is going to be available with some amazing new features and amenities that are sure to please. After all, this powerful, track dominating beast needs to be comfortable and a joy to ride, right?

Model Determines Accessories

The 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray has three different trim models. In order from cheapest to most expensive there is the 1LT starting at $59,995, 2LT starting at $67,295, 3LT starting at $71,945. Each model has different options and features, but the one thing they have in common is a convertible option. This, of course, will increase the base price of the vehicle.

The available hardtop is a true engineering feat when it comes to convertibles. The hardtop can open and close at speeds up to 30 MPH. This can be accomplished by the six electric motors improving reliability in extreme temperatures. All of this only adds about 77 pounds to the car, not compromising weight for luxury.

Coming with available body-color, or carbon flash design, the hardtop will look amazing both opened and closed. On previous models, the convertible compromised on storage space, the trend ends with this model. Storage space remains the same on both the convertible and coupe. Appearance Accessories

As we know the star of the show is the mid-engine design and layout of the car. Chevy intends to extenuate this by having a see-through rear hatch window. Everyone can catch a glimpse of the powerful beast under the hood, or should we say trunk, of the Corvette. The Engine Appearance Package includes LED lights to illuminate the engine while cruising city nights.

The new Corvette comes in a variety of colors, which is to be expected, but you can also choose colors on different parts of the car. As discussed, the hardtop can be changed to body color or black carbon flash while the brake caliper color can be altered to fit your specifications.

Other exterior accessories include Carbon Flash Exterior Trim Accents and a Carbon Flash exterior badge. There is also available sport wheels and chrome/metallic trim and badge upgrades as well. But it’s not all exterior, Chevy has added some awesome interior accessories. Chevy has fit some interesting interior technology into the Corvettes of the past, what’s in store this year?

Interior Accessories

“The mind of the machine” as Chevy calls it is quite intuitive. Coming with Chevy’s newest in infotainment systems, the 8-inch diagonal color touch screen is intuitive, improving driving tremendously. This includes the Performance Data Recorder, tracking what, and how you did on the track. Available with this center screen is enhanced navigation, including 3-D view. Pairing your phone is a snap with this system too. Pairing Bluetooth with NFC, you can now simply just place your phone above the volume button to pair instantly.

The Performance Data Recorder accessory is truly amazing. The “digital driving coach” is available with this Corvette, recording your laps around the track at 1080p. During your lap, it tracks acceleration speed, braking, gear choice, and more. The camera is used further than just the track; it can be used as a built-in dashcam. Along with this, while the car is in Valet Mode, it can track the driving of other drivers giving you peace of mind.

Other than valets ripping up your car, there are other things that worry Corvette, and really all other sports car drivers. For instance, those pesky potholes, speed bumps, and other roadblocks. Not only is it annoying to drive over them, causing discomfort while driving, it can also do some serious damage. With many exotic cars and sport cars, you have to drive really slowly and at an angle in hopes to avoid those expensive bills from the potholes or bumps. If you have a steep driveway, then you have to worry about pulling out every time you want to leave. The new Corvette has an interesting workaround.

The workaround is a system called Front Lift, and it does just what you’d think. Lifts the car almost 2 inches within 3 seconds, so you can clear obstacles quickly and effortlessly. Because it’s paired up with Chevy’s Infotainment 3 system, the computer can save up to 1,000 places, meaning that the car can work seamlessly without you even thinking about it. Truly amazing.

Performance Accessories

Possibly the most anticipated area for true car enthusiasts. This year’s Stingray has a ton of different performance options that will truly decrease the time on the track. All three trim models come with the same V8 engine, producing 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. But it’s not necessarily the power that will help on the track; it’s how the power is controlled and put down on the tarmac.

The Z51 package provides the means to control that power and torque for the track. With summer-only performance tires, massive brakes, eLSD, front splitter, and performance exhaust the Z51 has many upgrades available for the Corvette. The computer uses these new upgrades very efficiently, Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 reads the road ahead adapting to it for a better ride. This system reads the road every millisecond and adapts as little as 10-15 milliseconds. The mechanical technology behind this system is truly amazing. According to Chevy’s website, “An innovative suspension fluid contains metal particles that align and become rigid in an instant, giving you the confidence and control to push harder while staying planted.”

Is it for you?

After nearly 60 years in the making, the mid-engine Corvette is finally here. The numbers, options, and accessories are definingly a sign that this year’s Stingray could be the best one yet. Perfect for every sort of driver, from avid, track drivers to the Sunday cruiser who wants some pep. Chevrolet clearly did not hold back on their first mid-engine Corvette, making sure that they please everyone. Although the 2020 Vette isn’t released yet, it is available for pre-order.
