Jeff Gordon’s SS Performance Sedan Concept

The Chevrolet SS has gotten a lot of heads turning. It is actually the first rear-wheel-drive sedan to have entered the Chevrolet portfolio in 17 years. Not only is it spacious, but it is an incredible performer on the road or on the track. Who could forget its debut back at Daytona International Speedway back in February? Last week at SEMA, Jeff Gordon’s take on the SS rolled up, and boy did it look mean (the good kind of mean, of course). Although it seems heavily different externally from the stock SS concept, Chevy says that the exterior upgrades are actually limited to the satin-red exterior, the more aggressive looking custom front grille, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler and custom-finished 20-inch wheels. Oh, and naturally, it has been lowered, which has not only increased its handling, but also its stance. Thank the heavens that we offer great deals on oil changes, since anyone that wants to get this SS will most likely need to figure out a way to even out the costs.

This improved SS is equipped with high-performance brakes, as well as a Borla performance exhaust system that helps the engine exhale more freely. Perforated suede seat inserts, embroidered head rests, a flat-bottom steering wheel and the wonderful Chevrolet Accessories pedal kit to help round out the package. Everything else has actually remained unchanged, including the LS3 6.2-liter V8, which pumps out 415 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque through a six-speed automatic transmission with TAPShift manual control.
