The Buckeye State Originals: McCluskey Chevy – Dayton, OH
Ohio and Chevy have been tied together for years. Ohio borders alongside Michigan, both states are well-known for being a part of the Rust Belt because of its more recent decline in industry. As early as the nineteenth century, Ohio and Michigan became the home of many factories and those industries only grew with the turn of the century. As the automotive world expanded, this created job stability and a thriving middle class for these states. Both we equally wounded when those factories ditched town for cheaper labor in foreign markets, leaving towns stranded without their financial lifeline. The images of a blighted Detroit and Youngstown equally visceral and devastating. Fortunately, diversified industries are returning to both states and economies are on the rebound. Old wounds are healing. And Chevy is still tied to Ohio. When searching online for “Chevy dealers Dayton,” don’t forget about McCluskey Chevy down south in Cincinnati. We have a great new and used selection, a proven service department, and employees that will treat you with respect. Come on down to see for yourself.
Chevy Today
There is a lot that goes into the legacy of an auto manufacturer. Just one thing can’t power a legacy by itself. If history determined legacy, we’d still have new Mercurys, Plymouths, and Pontiacs. If slick marketing was the trick, Toyota’s short-lived Scion brand would have sold out to teenagers, not octogenarians. If sexy sports cars made a legacy, the Dodge Viper would still be here.
Instead, a modern legacy is a mix of historical significance, quality products, and a diverse line-up. Chevy hits all three of these marks with room to spare. Although Ford gets credit for the invention of the modern automobile assembly line, Chevy is not far behind. The company has been making vehicles for well over 100 years. The quality is also there, with Chevy receiving eight different J.D. Power awards in 2018 and three, so far, in 2019. Finally, Chevy has one of the most varied and far-stretching line-ups of vehicles available on the market today. From the diminutive sub-compact Spark, which starts at a hair over $13,000 to the massive $53,000 Silverado 3500 HD High Country, there is a car for every taste, need and want in the Chevy collection. With a legacy to uphold, the products just keep getting better and better. There has never been a better time to get behind the wheel of a Chevrolet.
The Chevy For You
If you’ve already decided that your next vehicle will be a Chevy, you’ve made a great decision. The hard part may be choosing which model to go with. There are currently 19 vehicles in the Chevy line-up, with a full-suite of cars, trucks, and SUVs. Below is a quick overview to give you an idea of the great selection.
Cars
The first choice you will face when looking for a Chevy car is if you want a traditional combustion-engine vehicle or an electric model. Although the hybrid-powered Volt is on the way out, Chevy is one of the few automakers to offer two completely original hybrid or electric cars. The other electric model, the Bolt, was the first affordable electric car with over 200 miles of range.
On the combustion side, you’ll have your choice of two subcompacts. The Spark and Sonic share an architecture but explore a different area of the class. The Spark is one of the cheapest new models available and will get you on the road for less than $15,000. The Sonic is slightly larger and contains for creature comforts. In hatchback form it has the cargo capacity of much larger vehicles.
Moving up to the compact class is the Cruze. It comes in both hatchback and sedan body styles and is perfectly suited for commuters or urbanites. Commuters should pay special attention to the Cruze’s diesel offering – it will get 52 mpg highway with a manual transmission and 47 mpg highway with the automatic.
The mid-sized Malibu and full-sized Impala round out the top. The Malibu is a capable family sedan that competes well with the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. The Impala is a viable alternative to the large luxury sedans. It rides smoothly across even the most pothole-filled roads and offers a copious amount of leather and woodgrain finished.
Trucks
When you sell nearly 750,000 trucks in a year, you must be doing something right. Chevy’s trucks, especially the full-size Silverado, are a big part of Chevy’s annual sales.
Mid-sized trucks, which were almost dead 7 years ago, are suddenly hot again. Jeep and Ford have recently come out with new trucks, and Hyundai will soon join the party as well. They all have a lot of catching up to do, considering the Colorado has been on the market since 2014. Capable of towing 7,500 pounds, the Colorado might be all the truck you ever need.
The stars of the show, of course, are the Silverado 1500 and Silverado HD models. With five engine choices and a price tag that spans over $40,000, the Silverado is the model truck for every need. Now with a dose of luxury at the top-end, the Silverado is as comfortable in a suburban driveway as it is on a work site. Brand new for 2019, it’s the best truck money can buy. If you’re the type of person who needs to tow somewhere between 12,000 and 24,000 pounds, the Silverado HD models are for you. They package the same style and luxury of the regular Silverado with mind-boggling towing capacity.
SUVs
The arrival of the 2019 Blazer gave Chevy the most complete line-up of SUVs on sale today. Starting at the bottom is the sub-compact Trax. Although not a rugged vehicle, it offers a tremendous amount of cargo space on a small frame. It definitely thrives in more of an urban environment. Clustered on the compact side of things are the best-selling Equinox and brand-new Blazer. The Equinox is a classic compact SUV that competes in what is now the toughest vehicle class. If sales numbers are any indication (320,000 in 2018), it’s doing something right. The Blazer slips into a space between compact and mid-sized. It’s got some room on the Equinox, but not so much that it demands a third row. With an award-nominated interior and stylish-exterior, it will be a hit in any environment.
At the top is Chevy’s trio of three-row SUVs, the Traverse, Tahoe, and Suburban. The Traverse is a classic mid-sized SUV. It’s built for an active family and would be equally at home in the carpool lane or towing a boat to the lake. The Tahoe and Suburban are classic body-on-frame SUVs that share an architecture with the Silverado. Both can pull considerable weight while also carrying eight people. If you need to pick between the two, go with the Suburban. Few vehicles can match its ability to carry eight passengers and all of their gear in total comfort.
Used Sales and Service
In addition to our super-sized inventory of nearly 1,000 new Chevys, we also have a great selection of used and certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles. In fact, we currently have over 500 used vehicles in stock and over 30 certified pre-owned Chevys. All of our CPO vehicles go through a 172-point inspection and reconditioning before they can return to the sales lot. CPO vehicles must also meet the following requirements:
- Be less than six model years old
- Be within a maximum of 75,000 miles
- Have a clean title and pass a vehicle history report
GM also requires that all CPO vehicles be up-to-date on any recalls before they are sold. There’s nothing quite like the safety and security of a CPO Chevy.
When it comes to service, we also have you covered. Our service technicians can do it all, from oil changes and air filter replacements to major engine and bodywork. While we take special pride in the level of care we provide for Chevy products, we are also able to service almost any other manufacturer as well. Even if you didn’t buy your vehicle at McCluskey, our technicians will be happy to help.
We also know that getting your car serviced can feel like a chore. No one wants to take time out of their busy day to visit the dealership. To help make things easier, we’re open seven days a week, even Sundays. Our hours are as follows: Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 a.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We also sell and install GM accessories and parts. Because we run such a big shop, we keep core parts in our garage. This means that you’ll almost never need to wait for us to ship in a part; putting you back on the road faster.
