What’s New for the 2025 Chevy Tahoe?
The popular Chevy Tahoe returns for the 2025 model year with some exciting refinements and upgrades while retaining the classic, comfortable, and powerful full-size SUV that drivers have always known and loved. The Tahoe has been a leader in the large SUV space for decades—always a favorite among drivers who need seating for eight people, powerful engine choices, tons of convenience features, and standard safety features they can count on.
Chevrolet has been quite vocal about making thoughtful changes to the newest Tahoe, which has led many of our customers to ask us, when it comes to the 2025 Chevy Tahoe vs 2024 Chevy Tahoe, what are the major changes to be aware of? We have decided to broadcast our answer in full, highlighting some of the changes we think customers will notice and benefit from the most; we’ll also let you know which popular features are carrying over to the 2025 model.
Technology
In regards to technology, Chevrolet has made some serious changes to this model’s features in 2025. First off, you will not be able to ignore the massive best-in-class 17.7-inch infotainment screen, which is standard on all trims for 2025. This is a huge jump from the 10.2-inch touchscreen, which came standard on all trims for the 2024 model. Now, drivers feel as if they have their own laptop affixed to the dash area with this huge screen. Chevy has also canted the 2025’s screen toward the driver for a more intimate and commanding feeling.
Its trailering technology was already impressive for the 2024 model year. The Tahoe had the available in-vehicle trailering app with its special camera views, showing the rear trailer, interior trailer, and other useful viewpoints. It also had pre-departure checklists and important monitoring systems for your trailer. For 2025, Chevrolet has added boat ramp assist; this tool provides a checklist specifically tailored for towing, launching, and retrieving a boat. You will find this within the trailering app.
On the safety front, Chevrolet has added its new connected camera system. This network of cameras lets you access live footage from your vehicle’s cameras, inside and outside, when you are away from your vehicle. The OnStar remote access plan will be required for this; with it, you can monitor your vehicle from your phone wherever you are.
Furthermore, interior motion detection has been added for 2025. This special technology can discern micro-movements inside the cabin and will alert the driver if movement is detected inside once the vehicle has been parked and turned off. For drivers concerned about leaving a child or four-legged companion in a vehicle, this can be a life-changing technology.
Performance
Not a whole lot has changed in the performance for 2025. The 5.3L V8 gas engine remains the standard engine for the LS, LT, RST, Z71, and Premier trims. The 6.2L V8 engine remains in the lineup, too, coming standard with the top-tier High Country trim.
However, the 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine, which was popular in 2024, has received some terrific upgrades for 2025. Chevy redesigned the engine to have 10% more horsepower and 7.6% more torque in the 2025 model; those new figures are 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque. For the first time ever, in 2025, the Duramax engine will be available on the aggressive, off-road trim, the Z71.
Drivers will still have the same ten-speed automatic transmission they liked in 2024. They will also still get the popular auto stop/start technology, which shuts off cylinders when they aren’t needed (such as when idling at a red light) to boost fuel economy.
Air Ride Adaptive Suspension and Magnetic Ride Control are held over from the 2024 model year. The former enables automatic load-leveling, allowing you to lower the vehicle to make it easier to attach trailers or boats to your hitch and make it easier for people to get in and out. Alternatively, you can increase the height for rougher terrain. Magnetic Ride Control continuously monitors the road, adjusting damping response to ensure the smoothest of rides. While these features aren’t new for 2025, their specific availability is, as Air Ride Adaptive Suspension can be had on the RST trim for the first time this year.
Appearances
Let’s review some of the style changes drivers can expect for 2025. Chevrolet put a lot of thought into upgrading the look of the 2025 Tahoe to bring it into modern times, and the result is quite striking.
Beginning with the lighting features, you’ll notice these the moment you approach the new Tahoe. The Premier and High Country trims get newly designed and standard welcome and walk-away lighting animations, which make approaching and exiting your vehicle a spectacle every time. Also new for 2025 are 24-inch wheels, which are sure to turn heads and are available on the RST and High Country trims.
The 2025 Tahoe gets two new color options: Cypress Gray and Lakeshore Blue Metallic. If you opt for the luxury High Country trim, you will find a new color combination on its interior: a jet black/mocha palette that is warm, luxurious and inviting. This trim also gets the addition of authentic wood decor.
Trim Levels
Based on the information available, the 2025 Tahoe will retain the same trims as the 2024 model. That means the base level LS, the LT with its added convenience and comfort features, the performance-oriented RST, the rugged off-road-ready Z71, the luxurious Premier, and the ultimate top trim, the High Country.
