Bengals Beat Browns!

September 18th, 2012 by

The Bengals won their first game of the season yesterday, topping the Cleveland Browns 34 to 27. Even though they won, there isn’t a lot to celebrate just yet. Let us here at McCluskey Chevrolet, your home of the 2013 Chevrolet Impala, break it down with you.

Two weeks into the season, the defense is among the worst in the NFL at 30th overall. There’s room for improvement for sure, but at least they can take comfort in the fact that they’re better than the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Mike Zimmer, the defensive coach for the Bengals, told members of the press that changes will be made on his side of the ball. He’s been ranked in the top 15 overall for the past five years, so there’s a good chance he really can turn it around,

The main problem the Bengals seem to be having is stopping the run. Opposing backs have been hammering it right up the middle and the Bengals have seemed powerless to stop them. It might have something to do with a banged up line-backer corp, but it has to be addressed if this team is going to be relevant come play-offs.

The Bengals have the week to prepare and they are going to need it. This Sunday, they go to Washington to play the Redskins. Robert Griffin III has proven himself to be worth the early pick  and it will be interesting to see how the Bengals adjust to handle such an athletic and versatile quarterback.
