Limbless Man To Swim Around World!

August 7th, 2012 by

Most people like to swim, is this safe to say?  There’s something relaxing and ethereal about floating in the water, it’s like a poor man’s zero gravity simulator.  Other people, they like to swim A LOT.  Waking up every morning to use the public pool, swimming aggressive laps inside of their little lanes until their skin looks like great aunt Muriel’s.  Well, we here at your Chevy Dealer Ohio want to introduce you to the man who likes swimming THE MOST.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Philippe Croizon.  He is a French endurance athlete and swimming enthusiast, and he has a grand plan.  Some people might say it’s a little too grand, but those people have no vision.  This summer, our man Philippe is going to swim between five continents.  His route involves taking some of the shortest hops from continent to continent; no major ocean breadths will be crossed.  In fact, the total route is only about 60 miles long, but it still manages to be incredibly impressive.  How, you ask?  The answer is simple: Philippe Croizon HAS NO LIMBS.

It’s true.  Mr. Croizon lost his limbs in a tragic accident back in 1994.  His cable was going out (presumably during the best part of the show) and he went on the roof to fix it himself.  Instead of fixing it though, he was violently electrocuted.  He lost both of his arms near the shoulder and his legs at about the knee.  This accident might have spelled the end for a lesser man, but Philippe Croizon is NOT a lesser man.

“We are going to symbolically link the five continents,” Croizon said.  “We’re going to be able to build a bridge.”
