Mobile App Helps Drive Donations to Local Food Banks
Here at McCluskey Chevrolet, we love giving back to the community. We also love to tell you about ways that you can do the same, and get involved in a way that helps other members of the community. From volunteer opportunities, to fun charity events, we try our best to keep you up to date on some of the fun things happening around the Queen City. Summer time is a great time of year to get out and volunteer, or donate to local organizations. The winter months tend to be when most people volunteer or donate their things, but the community also needs help in the summertime. That’s why as your main Cincinnati used car dealers, we thought we would share a fun way to get involved all while staying connected.
Miami University students developed a mobile app that the Ohio Association of Foodbanks just purchased for $5,000 to use for their organization. The app was specifically designed by the students to encourage and help people donate to food banks, and since it was rolled out last week – it seems to be working. Enough donations came through the new app last week that two-hundred meals were able to be donated to the local food banks. Currently, the app is available only on Android, but the association hopes that the iOS version will be available by June 1. NomNom Nation LLC Is a Cincinnati-based suburban company that helped the Ohio Association of Foodbanks roll out the app. The CEO of NomNom Nation LLC hopes that the app will eventually be available to users nationwide – although no time line on that plan has been announced.
It’s pretty awesome that technology is being used to help those in need, and we think its great that this app is making such a big difference in so many people’s lives.
