Monopoly Makes Changes

Monopoly Pieces

Did you enjoy playing Monopoly as a child? It seems to be a pretty polarizing experience. Some swear they had a blast with the game, playing all hours of the night with friends and family. Other people, well, their games ended with a violently flipped board and quick trip to the emergency room because someone got the Scotty Dog lodged in an eyeball. Either way, you may be interested to know that the game’s owner Hasbro is making a change to the old classic. Let us here at McCluskey Chevrolet, your home for an Oil Change Cincinnati can rely on, tell you what it is.

The change is revolutionary, but only if you like Monopoly! They are adding a new player piece to the game. To make room for the new though, one of the old pieces must be exiled.  Out of the wheelbarrow, battleship, racecar, thimble, shoe, dog, top hat and iron, can you guess which one is getting the axe? We here at Auto Parts in Cincinnati bet you can.

It’s the iron. This seems like a strong decision, because no one ever wanted to be the iron anyway. It’s just such a clear step-down in quality from racecar to battleship to…iron. Easy decision for Hasbro to make.

Replacing the iron will be a cat. Why a cat? Because Hasbro let the internet vote on the new piece, and the internet ALWAYS, ALWAYS votes for cats.

“We put five new tokens out for our fans to vote on and there were a lot of fans of the many different tokens, but I think there were a lot of cat lovers in the world that reached out and voted for the cat to be the new token for Monopoly,” said Jonathan Berkowitz, vice president for Hasbro gaming marketing.
