Rat Birth Control?

It’s not a secret, the New York City subways have a bit of a rat problem. Every year, the city sets out traps and kills plenty of these animals, but they are just barely keeping up with the tide. They wanted a solution that was more sustainable AND less violent. We here at McCluskey Chevrolet, your home for used cars Cincinnati, like the solution they came up with.

Their plan is to start lacing bait with hormones that will essentially act as rat birth control. This solution is really elegant for a couple of reasons. The first is that it will actually lower the rat population in a manageable way with no rats being killed in traps. This will ensure that New York is able to lower the population without accidentally eradicating it. The other upside to this plan is that it’s cheap. Instead of paying the same bill for extermination and removal every year, they only need to use a relatively small amount of the birth control bait for it to be effective. Citizens can take those saved tax dollars and go get a cheap oil change!

Some people are concerned with the safety of adding new chemicals to the environment, but the scientists behind the project say that those fears are unfounded. Apparently, it’s already used in rice fields that are then eaten by humans with absolutely no ill effects.

The only problem they’re having is getting the rats to eat the bait! It turns out, there is so much free food in the New York subway that even obviously placed bait is being overlooked!
