Salazar Set to Open December 19th
Looking for some new places to dine out at this holiday season in the Cincinnati area? Well, you’re in luck! Salazar, the brainchild of Chef Jose Salazar, is a restaurant that will be opening its doors on December 19th. His spot is conveniently located in the Gateway Quarter on the corner of 14th and Republic. In other words, it’s half way between the collection of restaurants on Vine Street and Washington Park, only a block from Zula. We can’t wait until this place is a viable option for an afterwork get together with everyone from the Chevy dealer!
For the cuisine fanatics of the area, Salazar may be recognizable as most recently being the executive chef at The Palace. He had been brewing up the plans for his own place for well over a year, and it is finally beginning to take shape. His place now has an intimate space with room for 30 seats, plus the 15 at the bar, decorated in an updated bistro style, with a mosaic floor, marble bar and large windows. Salazar has worked at Blue Ribbon Sushi, Jean-Georges and Sumile. He also worked with Thomas Keller to help open both Bouchon Bakery and Per Se. Quite the resume to bring to the table, Salazar!
He describes the food as New American, which incorporates European elements as well. Like his Gateway Quarter restaurant brethren, the menu is highly adaptable, with a wide variety of options. Entrees, which range from $15 (for a burger) to $25 for a Wagyu culotte steak, also include a seafood risotto, chicken thighs a la plancha and pastas. The bar will offer wine by the glass and bottle, a list of craft cocktails and craft beers. For now, it is just going to be a dinner destination, that is until he has gotten comfortable with the dinner service. A site will be up soon, and you can expect to see us there soon! Dine on, Cincinnati!
