Surprising Benefit of Manual Transmission

February 1st, 2013 by

The debate between manual transmission and automatic is ongoing. For the casual driver, automatic transmission is their dream come true. For the person who wants complete control of their vehicle down to that last RPM, manual is a must. We think both sides have merit, but want to tell you about one interesting unexpected benefit to a manual. Let us here at McCluskey Chevrolet, your home for a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu, give you the scoop.

Two armed thieves attempted to carjack the nicest car in the neighborhood, and they chose a Corvette (for obvious reasons). They caught the owner as he approached the car and got the keys from him at gunpoint. The owner, Randolph Bean, was made to lay down in the street next to the car as the two thieves attempted to start the ‘vet. We here at Cincinnati Auto Repair bet you can guess the problem they had!

The men started screaming, “How do I start the car?” at Bean.

“I had to tell him four different times to push in the clutch, because it’s a standard transmission,” Bean said.

When they realized they couldn’t drive the car, they settled for Bean’s wallet and fled into the night. Bean is happy to have come out of this without injury, and he still has a pretty good sense of humor about the whole thing:

“This is a high performance car compared to other cars,” he said. “So if they had gotten it, they might have hurt themselves in it.”
