Watch Game of Thrones…Seriously

Television has certainly grown as a medium in recent years. This is largely in part to premium channels like HBO and Showtime. Instead of half-hour long sips of story, these paid subscription channels give us commercial free hour long draughts. These shows, usually highly serialized, fill a void that existed in film and TV. They have the accessibility of a cable show, the collected length of several feature films, and the ability to use adult material that would never make it on basic cable. It’s safe to say these shows are here to stay, so let us here at your Chevrolet Dealership Indiana tell you about the best show going.

The best show on television is Game of Thrones. It’s a fantasy period piece with all the trappings of Lord of the Rings but very little of the nerd stigma that can turn off the average viewer. It’s based on the series of books by the immensely talented George R.R. Martin, who sought to combine old school fantasy elements with gritty realism. This amalgam comes across amazingly well, and there’s something in the show for everyone (though not young children, if it were a movie it would be a hard R rating.)

We don’t want to spoil the plot but essentially it’s about a country at war. The setting is pretty easy to get into and the writers do an excellent job of slowly doling out the backstory. What drives the show however is the characters. Each one is perfectly cast and the appeal of the story comes from the character interaction as much an anything.

If you haven’t seen Game of Thrones yet, give the first few episodes a chance. You wont be disappointed.
