CPO Criteria

 

Certified pre-owned vehicles are defined as vehicles that are fewer than six years old and have been driven less than 75,000 miles. To receive the CPO certification, vehicles go through a rigorous testing process. Authorized and trained technicians put the vehicle through an in-depth, 172-point inspection to ensure every vehicle meets the manufacturer’s factory standards. During this inspection, several key factors must be met. The vehicle must not show any signs of flood damage or exposed rust on the exterior. The vehicle also must not show any signs of previous accidents. It should be factory reconditioned.
The dealership will take care of routine maintenance, such as changing the oil and filters. CPO status does not guarantee everything will be changed or replaced, but if any vehicle fluids or parts are near the point of needing to be replaced or changed, the dealership will go ahead and take care of those concerns proactively.
Dealerships also research vehicle recall information. If a vehicle has outstanding factory-recall repairs, that vehicle is set aside so technicians can take care of those repairs before it continues the inspection process and is eventually listed and sold.

 

Warranty Breakdown

 

The warranties are the core components of the CPO program. There are two main types of warranties.
Chevrolet offers a one-year/12,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. The warranty begins immediately after a CPO vehicle is purchased. However, if the vehicle is still under factory warranty at the time of purchase, the vehicle is covered for the remainder of that warranty. Once the factory warranty expires, the CPO bumper-to-bumper warranty begins to cover the vehicle. Both the factory warranty and CPO are transferable between owners. Therefore, owners are afforded a smooth transition in accessing both the factory warranty as well as the CPO warranty.
Chevrolet offers new car owners a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. However, if a new car transitions to and is accepted into the CPO program, that warranty is upgraded to a six-year/100,000-mile warranty. With this upgrade, Chevrolet affords customers the peace of mind that if there’s a need for a major repair, they can take their vehicle to their local dealership’s service department to have the mechanical issue taken care of without thinking about having to break the bank to pay for it.
And if you still need another reason to appreciate Chevy’s CPO warranty, there is one very important one we’ve yet to mention. Chevrolet does not charge a deductible for any warranty claims made on a CPO vehicle. If you have ever had to make a claim, you know deductibles are required most of the time. These recommendations include major vehicle systems, such as the engine, transmission, and coolant system. Additionally, Chevy CPO vehicle owners can drive with confidence knowing they have a three-month free trial of OnStar. OnStar provides access to roadside assistance. If you get a flat tire, OnStar can make sure a trained mechanic will be dispatched to you to take care of the flat tire and have you on your way. In case of a medical emergency, you can rest assured medical personnel will be on their way as soon as possible. In the unfortunate situation that your vehicle is stolen, OnStar can activate the Stolen Vehicle Tracker system to assist law enforcement in locating your vehicle. CPO vehicle owners are also provided with a snapshot of vehicles’ history courtesy of a free CARFAX report.
